Spain were awarded a penalty following a foul from Abbosbek Fayzullaev. The drumming got louder in Parc des Princes. Sergio Gomez stepped up to take the penalty and his spot kick was saved. I think the drumming caused him to lose concentration, it’s making me go slightly weird, I can’t type.

Gomez did make up for his error by slotting home a great team move, a couple of minutes later. The Tokyo 2020 silver medallists are back in front.

We have had goals in both football matches at the same time. Argentina have pulled one back against Morocco as Giuliano Simeone, son of Atletico Madrid manager and former Argentina midfielder Diego Simeone, slid in at close-range to turn in a low shot in Saint Etienne.

Meanwhile at the Parc des Princes in Paris, ex-Manchester City midfielder Sergio Gomez, who left City for Real Sociedad earlier this month, has missed a penalty but then scored to put Spain 2-1 up against Uzbekistan.

Both games have 15 minutes to go.

As you can imagine, the Stade de France is awash with French blue, white and red.

Among the thousands are Jean-Philippe and Maxim Soury, a father and son who have travelled up from Limoges.

That's in the rolling hills of 'Dordogneshire' if you've ever been to a family wedding down there.

While the majority here will be home fans, there is also plenty of representation from the other competing nations...

Argentina are heavily fancied to take a medal in the rugby sevens and they did not disappoint, despite being greeted by a hostile atmosphere.

That victory is enough to put Argentina top of Pool B and clear of second-placed Australia.

Hosts France are up next against USA.

Euro 2024 and the Copa America may be over, but there is still some exciting international football to come at the Olympic Games.

The Paris 2024 action is under way, with matches taking place in seven cities across France. Both the men's and women's finals will be played in Paris at Parc des Princes.

Men's Olympic squads are made up of under-23s players, with up to three overage players allowed, while women's squads have no age restrictions.

But who are the big names to look out for at Paris 2024? BBC Sport takes a look at 10 of them and you can read about them by clicking here.

The noise from the Uzbekistan fans has been awesome so far. They’re been the highlight of the first half, they have not stopped singing or banging their drums. When the penalty was awarded following VAR, their supporters went mad.

Before the penalty, one of the Uzbek defenders fell to the ground and appeared to be praying in hope. Roma’s Eldor Shomurodov went on to score. If he missed, I don’t know how his praying team-mate would have reacted.

Tension has developed between France and Argentina sporting sides recently - and the home fans haven't forgotten.

Things became spiky after the 2022 World Cup football final and relations have not been helped by some Argentina players singing a racist song deemed as an "attack on French people".

Loud, angry boos greet the Argentines when they emerge from the tunnel, with Kenya being supported like a home team.

We got our first glimpse of GB’s male gymnasts in Paris today when they were doing their official podium training at the Bercy Arena, where their qualification round takes place on Saturday.

Double Olympic pommel horse champion Max Whitlock was practising on the apparatus on which he hopes to make history. He can become the first gymnast to win medals on the same apparatus at four consecutive Olympics.

He told BBC Sport he was “really pleased” with today’s practice and was looking forward to a full arena here for his final Games before retirement after no fans at Tokyo’s pandemic-hit Games.

“I nearly stopped after Tokyo … having the opportunity to be at my fourth Olympic Games with the boys, almost close to a home crowd, it’s really nice,” he said.

“Most of my family have come out, they are making a holiday of it. So, we’re almost just treasuring the little moments and me being here in my final one, which feels pretty crazy but really nice.”

Argentina won men's football gold in the Olympics in 2004 and 2008 but have made a bad start to their 2024 campaign.

Managed by ex-Liverpool and West Ham midfielder Javier Mascherano, a member of their 2008 gold medal winning squad, Argentina are a goal behind at half-time.

Morocco scored in the last minute of the first half when Ilias Akhomach produced a great flick to release Bilal El Khannouss and his low cross was converted by Soufiane Rahimi.

In the other ongoing match, Uzbekistan have equalised against Spain through Eldor Shomurodov's penalty in the third minute of first-half injury-time.

As you can see, the Stade de France has been transformed into an Olympic Stadium.

Once the rugby sevens concludes on 30 July, it will have a little reshuffle to ensure it is ready to host the athletics from 1 August.

It won't be a full makeover, of course. The decorating job has already been done, with the 77,000-seater stadium decked out in pinks, purples and yellows.

I would try to describe the 'Look of the Games' further, but I wouldn't do it justice.

So here is how the creative minds describe the palette:

"Colourful yet aesthetically pleasing, daring yet minimalist, and modern yet richly symbolic."

  14. GB's Dujardin given provisional ban and out of Gamespublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 24 July

Meanwhile, as Team GB get settled in Paris, one of their biggest medal hopes, Charlotte Dujardin has been provisionally suspended by equestrian's governing body the FEI.

The dressage star had already pulled out of Paris 2024 after a video emerged which she said showed her "making an error of judgement".

The FEI said it had received footage showing Britain's joint-most decorated female Olympia Dujardin "engaging in conduct contrary to the principles of horse welfare - during a training session conducted at Ms Dujardin's private stable".

A lawyer representing the claimant who filed an official complaint against three-time Olympic gold medallist Dujardin to the FEI said in an accompanying letter seen by the BBC "the video shows Ms Dujardin beating a horse excessively with a whip".

They added: "My client is aware that this complaint could have far-reaching consequences for Ms Dujardin, including disciplinary sanctions. My client had to think long and hard about whether to bring this to your attention this way."

Good Morning Britain, the ITV breakfast show, aired footage on Wednesday morning that appeared to show Dujardin hitting a horse with a long equestrian whip.

The footage, which is yet to be verified by the BBC, appeared to show Dujardin repeatedly striking the back of a horse's legs.

Whips are used in all equestrian disciplines and when employed as a training aid should be utilised lightly to communicate with the horse.

The opening ceremony at the Paris Olympics promises to be an event like no other.

In a first for the Games, the spectacle will not be in a stadium, instead taking place on Paris' famous River Seine.

The ceremony begins at 19:30 local time (18:30 BST) on Friday, 26 July.

It is expected to last just under four hours, with the final stages taking place as the sun sets across the French capital.

Thankfully, the Paris weather forecast for Friday evening is good.

One of the big questions still to be answered is who are the Team GB flagbearers?

Sailor Hannah Mills and rower Moe Sbihi had the honour at Tokyo 2020 and we'll be hearing later this evening (around 19:45 BST) who has been chosen this year.

    Men's football - Uzbekistan 0-1 Spain

We have our first goal in the men's football at the 2024 Olympics and it has come from Spain defender Marc Pubill, a 21-year-old who plays for Almeria, in their match against Uzbekistan.

Pubill volleyed in from close range at the back post after a free-kick from the left, which was taken by former Manchester City man Sergio Gomez, had been flicked on by Abel Ruiz.

Spain became men's European champions earlier this month, is this the start of a campaign that leads to Olympic gold as well?

There are 16 nations in the men's Olympics football competition, divided into four groups of four in the round-robin phase with the top two from each section moving into the knockout quarter-finals.

But how did they get their places in the competition?

France qualified as hosts, with 14 of the other 15 nations coming through one of six qualifying events held around the world, while Guinea won an Asia-Africa play-off to be the last country to qualify.

Group A: France, Guinea, New Zealand, United States.

Group B: Argentina, Iraq, Morocco, Ukraine.

Group C: Dominican Republic, Egypt, Spain, Uzbekistan.

Group D: Israel, Japan, Mali, Paraguay.
