This is a USA side that have gone on a run to the last four here in Paris, a lot better than they managed to achieve at last year's World Cup.

However the pressure is on. People always expect them to be in the mix for a gold medal, so this match against Germany is one they really need to win.

Daniel: Sky Brown has TWO Olympic medals at the age of 16. That's absolutely insane.

Paulcurran: So pleased for Sky Brown considering her shoulder injury. So close to silver but a brilliant bronze

Harriet: Good on you Sky. That was thrilling to watch. Those girls have no fear.

Two Olympics in a row Sky Brown is on the podium.

No Team GB athlete has ever been younger winning medals and now she has two.

Beaten by 0.3 of a point shows just how narrow the margins are.

What a final - that was immense.

Full credit to Sky Brown, she has come back from an MCL tear. She had to rehab it for two months and missed a lot of key competitions in the run up to qualifying.

Wow, Kokona Hiraki has pulled out everything for her final run and she’s leapfrogged Sky Brown to get a silver with a final run of 92.63.

    Just like in Tokyo.

But what a terrific performance from Brown who has matched the bronze she won three years ago.

Arisa Trew takes the gold for Australia.

I don't feel like Sky Brown will chase down Arisa Trew with that run.

She moves into silver medal position but it's definitely not over yet.

There is a lot of shouting still to be done here.

Australia have just set the fastest time so far in women's team pursuit qualifying - 4:08.612 - with five teams still to come.

As I went through security to get into the velodrome today, colleagues from Australia’s Channel Nine were behind me in the queue, holding a giant inflatable kangaroo.

The French security guard’s eyes lit up. He shouted “SKIPPY!” then started bouncing up and down on the spot.

Skippy is now in the mixed zone, where the athletes are interviewed after their races. Wonder what his questioning is like.

Can she threaten Sky Brown? She lands a 540 early in her run before winding up for a big finish with the nosegrind and crushing it.

'More questions than answers for USA & Emma Hayes'published at 17:04 British Summer Time 6 August

    Women's football semi-final - USA v Germany

    Maz Farookhi
Commentator on BBC Radio 5 Live

The last game against Japan was Emma Hayes' first knockout match in charge of the US women's national team and it left more questions than answers in many ways.

Japan's tactics were spot on, made the pitch very congested and they were very well organised. The USA for large parts of the match didn't have answer to it. Momentum was against them and they needed a really important goal from Trinity Rodman to get the winning goal in extra time.

This is a USA side that have gone on a run to the last four here in Paris, a lot better than they managed to achieve at last year's World Cup.

However the pressure is on. People always expect them to be in the mix for a gold medal, so this match against Germany is one they really need to win.
