This is my ninth Olympic Games, I have never been to one so affected by the weather.

I wonder when they were picking the venue if they even consulted a meteorologist.

It is not the time of year really to be holding a major event in Marseille

We have a better forecast in two days time. It is so frustrating.

We want some action! For all of the athletes it is pretty hard.

Oh, for some consistent wind in Marseille.

The sailing event has been blighted by variable conditions, and that continues today with numerous races postponed across the classes.

Most significantly, the men's and women's dingy medal races will now be staged tomorrow.

Team GB's Micky Beckett sits in fourth in the overall standings in the men's event, and will have to endure another nervous night before he can get a shot at a medal.

British sport climbers Erin McNeice and Molly Thompson-Smith have work to do to make the women's boulder & lead Olympic final in Paris.

McNeice finished 10th in the semi-final boulder section at Le Bourget Climbing Venue on Tuesday with Thompson-Smith, from London, 19th.

The top eight climbers will progress to the final after points collected from Thursday's lead section are added to their boulder score.

McNeice's score of 59.6 points put her 4.4 points behind eighth-placed Italian Camilla Moroni, while Thompson-Smith posted 9.8 from the four rounds.

Slovenia's Janja Garnbret currently occupies top spot ahead of France's Oriane Bertone and American Brooke Raboutou.

Semi-final scores are scratched after the lead section and the competition is reset for Saturday's final.

What I love about my daughter [Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix] is her positivity.

Today she didn't make it to the podium, tonight she is going to have a quiet night, and tomorrow she is back to being happy, smiley Andrea.

Just enjoying life, enjoying Paris, and enjoying the moment.

That is Andrea. And that is beautiful because it is about balance. It is about knowing who you are and making the most of life, and that is what she is doing. So I am very happy for her.

Teenager Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix missed out on creating history as the first British woman to win two Olympic diving medals as she finished sixth in the 10m platform at Paris 2024.

Having claimed bronze alongside Lois Toulson in the synchronised event last week, Spendolini-Sirieix hoped to repeat the medal success in Tuesday's individual event.

The 19-year-old from London had high hopes of creating another magical moment for Team GB, having produced a superb performance to place third in Monday's semi-finals.

However, Spendolini-Sirieix could not match that level during the final.

Quan Hongchan, 17, won gold to defend the title she won as a 14-year-old in Tokyo, having made a strong statement with a perfect 10 in her opening dive.

Team-mate Chen Yuxi, 18, took silver with North Korea's Kim Mi Rae winning bronze.

Watched on by her father Fred Sirieix - the television personality who stars in First Dates - Spendolini-Sirieix looked emotional when she was consoled after her final dive.

"Obviously it wasn't the result that I wanted," Spendolini-Sirieix told BBC Sport.

"I'm not even upset with the competition. The girls dove amazing.

"They dove better than me today and it's because they work really hard."

Cindy Ngamba is the story of this Olympic Games.

We at Team GB believed she would be representing us at this Olympics, she hasn't but the first thing she says when she speaks after a fight is, 'This is for my GB team, they saved my life'.

And of course it is also for the Refugee team. She carried the flag during the opening ceremony as they sailed down the river.

Bolton-based Cindy Ngamba became the Refugee Olympic Team's first medallist after beating France's Davina Michel on Sunday.

That quarter-final victory in the women's 75kg category earned Ngamba a spot in the semi-finals and guaranteed at least a bronze medal.

She faces Panama's Atheyna Bylon in the semi-finals on Thursday and another win will ensure Ngamba leaves Paris with silver or gold.

Two months ago Dominic Lobalu thought he would not be able to compete at Paris 2024, but now he has the chance to make history.

The 25-year-old was ruled out of the Tokyo 2020 Games after claiming asylum in Switzerland, making him ineligible to compete for refugee teams.

After being given clearance by World Athletics to represent his adopted nation in May - despite not holding Swiss citizenship - Lobalu won two medals at the the European Championships the following month.

His gold in the 10,000m and bronze in the 5,000m persuaded the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to invite Lobalu to join its Refugee Olympic Team, and the South Sudanese-born runner will compete over the shorter distance in the French capital.

“This is what I was dreaming for,” Lobalu told BBC Sport Africa.

“When I started my training, the goal was to go to the Olympics one day. And now I have it I'm so happy.”

Boxer Cindy Ngamba has already assured the Refugee Olympic Team of its first ever medal, but Lobalu could upgrade her guaranteed bronze.

The first round of the 5,000m begins on Wednesday, but it has been a long journey for Lobalu to reach the start line.

I think Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix competed really well. she just didn't have her normal sparkle and that's probably why she was frustrated today. Her crying wasn't because she was sad about her performance because she was amazing.

She was just a bit more frustrated because she can get that medal.

She is young, she got probably two or three more Olympics in her.

I said to Lois [Toulson] yesterday for not making the final 'don't worry, you're an Olympic medallist.'

Andrea and her coach get on really well, he knows how to handle her. He has been a real good support system for her as well as her friends and family.

The fact that she is here competing and looking outstanding, they've done a real good job.

She is winning medals left right and centre this year so it has been a long year for her.

Former marathon world record holder Paula Radcliffe says she is "heartbroken" for Ciara Mageean after the European champion was forced to withdraw from the Olympic Games.

Team Ireland athlete Mageean was set to compete in the 1500m heats on Tuesday morning but pulled out on the eve of her opening race because of a recent "chronic" Achilles problem.

It is the latest Olympic heartbreak for the 32-year-old, who narrowly missed out on the 1500m final in 2016 and exited at the heats stage in Tokyo following a calf injury sustained a week before her race.

Radcliffe, who was hampered by injury at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics, said it would have been a "tough, tough decision" to pull out.

"I know the form she was in and what she wanted to do at these Games," Radcliffe told BBC Sport.

"I've seen some of the results this year and she has been struggling with that injury. Making the decision to pull out is a tough one for an athlete to do - particularly at the Olympic Games.

"Having a four-year wait for the next one, it doesn't take away from the talented athlete that she is."

"As you said, it wasn't meant to be. I'm not even upset with my performance. Three years ago I didn't even want to be alive, so today I'm just happy that I am alive, I'm breathing and I've got my family to support me."

On seeing her family after the final: "My mum told me to just keep smiling and she said she was proud of me and they were here to see me. At the end of the day, that's all I can ask for.

"I'm so happy to be here, to be at the Olympic Games. It's been a really long year and it doesn't take away from my accomplishments this year. Just missing out on one medal doesn't change who I am. It was just God's way of saying there is more to do and I just give God all the glory."
