Mixed feelings for Brazil as Dora Varella edges ahead of team-mate Isadora Pacheco.

Her score of 82.29 is enough to boot out Pacheco's 82.07.

She was really pumped on the first dive, maybe she took a little bit too much off the second. The entry was okay, she was just a little low on the water. The score is fair, but it's hard work from here.

    Women's 10m platform final

Ah, not the cleanest entry for Spendolini-Sirieix in her second dive. She executes the inward three-and-a-half somersaults but is slightly under-rotated as she enters the water.

That scores 62.40. She's in third, but the two Chinese divers are still to come.

Spain's Naia Laso has just catapulted herself into contention for the final with an excellent run of 82.49 in round two.

She's followed into the 80s by Finland's Heili Sirvio who burst into tears after scoring 83.42.

Neither is enough to overhaul Sky Brown but they have knocked reigning Olympic champion Sakura Yosozumi out of the final.

  7. Watson smashes his own world recordpublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 6 August

Elsewhere this morning, we saw more speed-climibing qualifiers.

No, it is not an episode of Gladiators, it is one of the most thrilling events in the Olympics.

Speed climbing is very simple, the fastest to reach the top of a 15m-high wall wins - and Sam Watson was very fast.

The American broke his own world record on his way to reaching the quarter-finals, shaving 0.04 seconds of his previous best to reach the summer in just 4.75 seconds.

Spiderman has nothing on this guy.

That's why the judges saved the 10s, that is outstanding from Quan Hongchan. There is nothing there. This is why she won the Olympics at 14 years old. Straight 10s.

My word, the entrance into the water from China's Chen Yuxi and Quan Hongchan is unreal!

They literally disappear, like the water has absorbed them.

And Quan, the defending champion in this event, scores straight 10s for a 90.00!

After the first round of five, Spendolini-Sirieix is in fourth place.

It's really good! Andrea Spendolini-Siriex is so pumped up, she's got electricity running through her veins, it's effected her entrance ever so slightly with a minor, minor rotation. If it wasn't for that, it would've been 9s and 9.5s. Her coach Alex knows that is wonderful though.

The bravery and the control is just unbelievable when the divers start with the backwards-facing handstand on the edge of the board. I can barely even watch with nerves.

But Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix nails it for her first dive, going into second place with 76.80.

    Nice start.

I'm feeling good and confident, Andrea had a beautiful competition yesterday. It's the best diving she has done and I was impressed with her composure.

Strong start from Italy's Sarah Jodoin di Maria, going for her most difficult dive first - perhaps playing a few mind games to get herself an early boost up the scoreboard.

Rankings are decided by the combined points total of each competitor’s five dives during the final.

Seven judges score each dive out of 10 in half-point increments.

The two highest and two lowest judges’ scores for each dive are discarded.

The scores of the remaining three judges are added together and multiplied by the degree of difficulty for that dive.

    Got it?

Here's a look at what's happened so far this morning at the Paris Olympics:

    • Team GB fail to add to their equestrian medal haul with Ben Maher and Scott Brash coming up short and Germany's Christian Kukuk winning gold.
    • Fellow British rider Harry Charles withdrew prior to the event because his horse was not fit enough to compete.
    • Britons Laura Muir and Georgia Bell qualify for the women's 1500m semi-finals, while Victoria Ohuruogu makes it into the women's 400m semis.
    • Team GB's Jack Laugher and Jordan Houlden qualify for the men's 3m springboard semi-finals.

    And here's what's coming up:

    • Britain's Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix is about to compete in the women’s diving 10m platform final.
    • Team GB's Micky Beckett is in sailing medal contention when the men’s ILCA 7 (dinghy) race gets under way at 14:43 BST.
    • Can Team GB add to the track cycling gold they won on Monday? The action at the Paris velodrome continues at 16:30 BST
    • The women's skateboarding park final, which Britain's Sky Brown is in a strong position to qualify for, also starts at 16:30.

At the moment, the Chinese and the Mexicans are having a contest who can make the loudest noise.

They're soon beaten by the DJ. Like a nightclub in here - especially when the lights are dimmed and House of Pain blasts out.

China and Mexico dominate the flag waving competition, too. Britain are probably third.
