'I was really proud that I held my own'published at 21:21 British Summer Time 6 August

    Athletics - women's 200m final

Team GB's Dina Asher-Smith speaking to BBC TV after finishing fourth in the 200m final: "I feel good. It has been a long week and I am proud of that performance.

"It was a really strong field, all the girls between them had so many strengths. So many good bend runners, so many amazing finishers and I was really proud that I held my own.

"I am really happy for the medallists, especially Julien [Alfred]. She is my training partner and she is such a cutie and it has been a joy to see her do so well."

On her race: "I was just told to get out and keep going. And if you die, you die! But just get out and keep going! I kind of had fun doing that because normally you run far more strategically but it is not often I get that instruction. Last time I had that was for the final at Eugene so I had some fun with that."

On the depth of talent in the field: "Women's sprinting is really incredible right now. If you go back to 2012 these kinds of times today they would have all done phenomenally well in that era, so it is a great time to be a female sprinter."

'I have done really well to represent myself'published at 21:19 British Summer Time 6 August

    Athletics - women's 200m final

Team GB's Daryll Neita speaking to BBC TV after finishing fifth in the 200m final: "All in all it has been a fantastic Olympic Games for me. I am a double finalist. Fourth place in the 100m by a couple of hundredths and the same here. I know my time is coming, I have to be a little bit more patient. Honestly, it has been incredible. I gave it my all tonight in that race and I think I ran a good race.

"I needed to run faster. I'm healthy I have just run six rounds and recovering in between them was a challenge so I have done really well to come out here and represent myself.

"I'm proud of myself but I really wanted to leave here with an individual medal and I am just hungry."

On how the race played out: "For me, I didn't want to just not be competitive at all in the home straight. I did fight all the way to the line which is good but ultimately we wanted to see a medal round my neck, didn't we? I don't have it but I'm very proud of myself, I'm very thankful for my coach Marco, my team, my family, my friends, my supporters and people that give me so much love and encouragement.

"Even making the final and coming fourth the other day, it has been a lot of adrenaline, a lot has been going on so I have stayed composed and handled myself greatly throughout this championships.

"Just a massive thank you to everyone for their support and also a big thank you to National Lottery as well because without the players we wouldn't be here as a team."

    Athletics - men's 1500m final

Cole Hocker on his shock 1500m victory in a new Olympic record time: “Winning gold was my goal this entire year. I wrote that down and I repeated it to myself even if I didn’t believe it.

"My performances showed me that I was capable of running 3:27, whatever it took. I knew I was a medal contender, and I knew that if I get it right, it would be a gold medal. I’ve been saying that.”

On all the attention on Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Josh Kerr, he said: “I kind of told myself that I’m in this race too. If they let me fly under the radar, then so be it. I think that might’ve just been the best.”

Andy: Not sure about these boxing judges. Think GB have been on the end of some rough decisions.

Liam: The judging at the Olympic boxing has been amongst the worst I have ever seen. Shut your eyes and flip a coin stuff. Awful.

Kier: Team GB have had some shocking decisions in the boxing and tonight is another. Robbed again. Tonight has been another so close for Team GB all over the park. Hard to take. But so proud of how much we are competing in so many sports.

I find that actually quite amazing.

I thought Lewis had done enough in that last round to win, so to lose that on all five scorecards, that being the only round of the fight that one of the boxers won outright. I am absolutely amazed.

Verde Alvarez had nothing left in the last 60 seconds. Lewis was dominating, he was enjoying himself, he was hitting shots and picking Verde off.

It wasn't a robbery but do believe that Lewis Richardson was harshly treated there. He should be walking his way into Friday's final.

    Women's football semi-finals - Brazil 2-0 Spain (HT)

Gabi Portilho has doubled Brazil's lead on the stroke of half-time. And in fairness it had been coming.

The Corinthians midfielder missed an absolute sitter early in the first period but makes no mistake from Yasmim's searching cross from the left, guiding a low effort into the right corner.

Plenty for world champions Spain to think over as they grab their energy drinks.

Marco Verde declared a split decision victor.

The Mexican fans absolutely elated. It is the tournament number two seed who goes through to the gold medal bout.

Lewis Richardson comes away with a brilliant bronze medal at 71kg. He ensures that Team GB doesn't leave empty handed.

It was a great effort from Britain's Lewis Richardson and he thought he had got the win that would have taken him into the gold medal bout.

But Mexico's Marco Alonso Verde Alvarez, the second seed, gets the verdict, winning 3-2 on a split decision.

The Mexican will now fight Uzbekistan's Asadkhuja Muydinkhujaev for the gold later this week.

I am convinced that Lewis has made the Olympic final. Verde had nothing left, he was looking at the clock, looking at his corner, he was holding on. He was doing everything but throwing punches.

What we have here is a fight that is just about as poised as it could be. One judge marking one round could change the course of one of these boxers' futures. I like the way Lewis Richardson was measuring the last round. I think we are going to see a repeat of that, I really do.

I don't like the body language from Verde. He is looking up at the clock and at his corner, he is being outmanoeuvred at the moment. He is being picked off.

Boxing - men's 71kg: Lewis Richardson (GB) v Marco Alonso Verde Alvarez (Mex)

Lewis Richardson has sustained a cut under the left eye in the second round. But, unlike the first round, the Briton has done enough to take the second round 4-1, producing a number of eye-catching shots including a finely-timed uppercut.

It's up for grabs. Richardson three minutes away from upgrading from a guaranteed bronze to a guaranteed silver.
