    Here. We. Go.

All the talking has been leading to this moment.

The Olympic champion against the world champion, round two on the sport's biggest stage.

Josh Kerr has the psychological edge, triumphing over Jakob Ingebrigtsen last summer, following that up with world indoor 3,000m gold, before beating Ingebrigtsen at the Eugene Diamond League earlier this season.

What will he have up his sleeve this evening?

Kerr is the first out into the stadium to an incredible reception, followed by his gold medal rival.

Here comes the dramatic music. Enjoy this everyone.

I love his energy and his attitude. He is more vocally confident than I am I think, but he is a great character to have in the sport.

"I really think he can bring home a gold. If we can get two more golds in the next few days that would be absolutely incredible."

Lots of chat about the battle between Team GB's Josh Kerr and Norway's Jakob Ingebrigtsen, but let's not forget there is another Briton in this final.

Neil Gourley is the current British champion and earned his first major medal last year – European indoor silver – and twice improved his outdoor personal best before coming ninth at the World Championships.

    Paula Radcliffe

There is a difference in the characters between Josh Kerr and Jakob Ingebrigtsen and a rivalry on and off the track.

There are two men in this field who really believe they are going to win tonight. The problem is that both of those men can't win so we are going to get a thrilling race in terms of what they throw down.

The person who is going to win is the person who doesn't make a tiny, tiny mistake.

You would be forgiven for thinking it was just down to those two and perhaps it might come down to that but we shouldn't forget we have gold, silver and bronze from the last Olympics in Tokyo.

It's the manner in which everyone is trying to second guess how that race is going to go. Don't rule out other men in there as well.

There is a trio of very good Americans.

The excitement is already building here at Edinburgh AC. It’s not just where Josh Kerr first started his journey to the Olympics, it’s also where his brother and fellow Olympian Jake Wightman trained.

Today, it’s busy with those hoping to follow in his (very quick) footsteps. That includes Jess Taylor, Megan McKay and Elsa McGregor who race here at the Meadowbank Sports Centre, all sticking around to watch the big race with 170 other members on a big screen. No matter what happens, they already describe it as a really inspiring moment.

So how about those all-important predictions?

“He’s from the same club so definitely I back him”, says Megan. “I think he’s got it in him, so he’ll win.”

Jess is feeling confident too, because of his trademark self-confidence.

“That confidence is what makes him such a good athlete” she says. “It’s 60% the physical game and 40% the mental game. You definitely need that 40% to be able to win.”

He is the 5000 metre world champion as well so he has strength in depth in his running. He is absolutely world class.

There is no shortage of British and Norwegian flags on show as I look around the Stade de France.

Keely Hodgkinson said last night she felt as though she was racing at a home Games and Josh Kerr, who won world indoor gold on home soil in March, will likely feel exactly the same tonight.

But Jakob Ingebrigtsen has plenty of support here too, with everyone desperate to see one of the most anticipated showdowns of Paris 2024.

The Olympic champion against the world champion. Two athletes driven to be the very best, but who certainly do not see eye-to-eye.

Ingebrigtsen has referred to Kerr as "just the next guy". Kerr says Ingebrigtsen has a big ego and plenty of weaknesses.

The latest chapter in their fierce rivalry, on the biggest stage of them all. Do not miss it.

One of Josh Kerr's old coaches told me one of his strengths is the ability to pour all of his emotional and physical energy into achieving one target - "like an MMA fighter or boxer".

This battle with Jakob Ingebrigtsen certainly has the billing of a big bout.

Kerr said it could be one of the most "vicious" 1500m races ever. It's mouthwatering.

Let's not forget the other 10 men though, including Kerr's fellow Brit, and Scot, Neil Gourley. A cracker in store.
