Jasmine Jones of the USA is second.

It's heartbreak for Team GB's Lina Nielsen as she stumbles over the final hurdle and crashes to the track. Nielsen was fourth and looked like she was starting to close in on Jones, but it's not to be.

There's plenty to enjoy on the track tonight at the Stade de France but we'll also keep you across the action on the field.

The women's hammer throw final has just got under way.

I remember attempting something along the lines of this at school... it did not end well.

The 12 athletes will have six throws.

World record-holder Anita Wlodarczyk of Poland is one to keep an eye on, while Canada's Camryn Rogers could also be a contender after taking gold at the world championships.

Ed Lowe is just 20 years old, and like team-mate Hamish Turnbull, is making his Olympic debut in Paris.

He admits himself he used to be “terrible” at cycling, and his Dad told the BBC he “didn’t understand braking” and would end up in hedges and hitting trees.

He tried road cycling. Not for him. He tried track endurance. Also not for him.

Thankfully, track sprint clicked. And given he didn’t understand braking, it’s probably a good job track bikes don’t have brakes.

Can GB deny the Netherlands another gold medal?published at 18:59 British Summer Time 6 August

Track cycling - men's team sprint final (19:10 BST)

The Netherlands' trio of Roy van den Berg, Harrie Lavreysen and Jeffrey Hoogland are the reigning Olympics champions and we have a repeat of the Tokyo 2020 final as they are again against Great Britain.

GB's team again includes Jack Carlin, a member of the trio three years ago, with the rest of his team made up by Hamish Turnbull and Ed Lowe.

The Netherlands and Great Britain have dominated this event in recent Games, with GB winning gold in 2008, 2012 and 2016.

'Can't wait to share my medal with everyone'published at 18:58 British Summer Time 6 August

    Athletics - women's 800m final

    Keely HodgkinsonImage source, Getty Images

Team GB 800m gold medallist Keely Hodgkinson speaking to BBC TV after the medal ceremony: "The support in the stadium was incredible. Seb [Coe] said that was the most popular gold medal they have had yet so it was a real honour for him to say that. Jenny and Trevor [her coaches] were down there as well, Just to share this moment again with so many people again is just great. The medal is so pretty!

"I have waited so long to hear the national anthem on a global podium I've had it at the Europeans which has been incredible but it really meant a lot and I think you could see that there."

On how much sleep she got last night: "Like 90 minutes! When I crash, I will crash hard but I'm been great, you're high off adrenaline and that's what's getting me through and it's all worth it."

On how she felt when she woke up: "I thought I've got such a long day ahead but it's going to be so exciting. I spoke to so many different people this morning and it's been great to get my story out there and hopefully bring people into track and field and it's been really fun."

On her team: "I have so many people involved on my team. I could sit here and name them all but we would be here all day but they know exactly who they are. My thanks goes out to Team GB as well, for hosting an incredible Games, for looking after us really well and also the National Lottery funding. Everyone who plays, it helps us achieve our dreams."

On where she will keep the medal: "Unfortunately at the moment nowhere pretty, give me a couple months to find a really nice suitable place but I can't wait to share it with everyone."

    Athletics - men's 400m semi-finals

It's bad news for Team GB's Charles Dobson with his 44.48 seconds only good enough for 11th overall and, therefore, missing out on a place in the final.

American Christopher Bailey and Nigerian Samuel Ogazi will compete for a medal tomorrow, though, after registering the two quickest times outside of those to finish in the top two.

    Men's 400m semi-finals

    Harry Poole

That is some statement from Matthew Hudson-Smith.

With three of the four fastest 400m men this year in his semi-final, the Briton cruises over the line after obliterating his competition.

That was wrapped up well before the finish and a quick glance at the big screen informs him it's safe to slow down as he looks to save as much energy as possible for tomorrow's final in the Paris heat.

It's not to be for the hugely talented Charlie Dobson on his individual Olympic debut, but he and Hudson-Smith will hopefully form part of an exceptionally strong British 4x400m relay team later in the week.

Matt Hudson-Smith is out of the blocks quickly and looks great through the first 200m.

He's out there all on his own in the final 100m and can afford to slow to a jog for a 44.07 seconds.

Fine work from the Team GB star.

    Athletics - men's 400m semi-finals

    We're flying through these semi-finals.

The last of three is just about to get under way.

All eyes on Team GB's Matt Hudson-Smith.

    It's a very competitive semi-final, though, with 20-year-old Canadian Christopher Morales-Williams a serious contender.

He ran the quickest indoor 400m in history in February but his time of 44.49 seconds – a personal best by 0.9 seconds – wasn’t ratified as a world record because of an issue with the starting blocks.
