Victor Wembanyama is afforded space and he makes use of it to land the three-pointer - United States coach Steve Kerr is not happy.

Steph Curry with ANOTHER three-pointer will bring a smile to his face, though.

Curry brings out the "night, night" celebration and that might just be goodnight for France.

A timeout with 16 seconds to go and it looks like this is beyond France now.

He's at it again... Steph Curry with the fake and there's the three-pointer.

Nicolas Batum responds with one of his own, but it's back-to-back triples for Curry who moves on to 21 points for this game and we head into the final minute with the United States on track to retain their title.

Swedish pair Jonatan Hellvig and David Ahman have won men's beach volleyball gold with a convincing 21-10 21-13 victory over German duo Nils Ehlers and Clemens Wickler.

Hellvig and Ahman are the first Swedish team to ever medal in beach volleyball. In fact, Sweden hadn't been represented at the past four Games until Paris.

Norway's Solfrid Koanda put in a dominant performance to secure the inaugural 81kg women's weightlifting title at Paris 2024.

Koanda lifted a combined total of 275kg to become only the second Norwegian to win a weightlifting title and the first since Leif Goran Jenssen 52 years ago at the 1972 Munich Games.

Egypt's Sara Ahmed finished with a total of 268kg to grab the silver, narrowly beating Ecuador's Neisi Dajomes who took bronze.

Lasha Talakhadze of Georgia won gold in the men's over 102kg weightlifting.

Varazdat Lalayan of Armenia took silver and Gor Minasyan of Bahrain claimed bronze.

Victor Wembanyama meets one off the backboard and the gap is just two points.

This is getting tense with just over two minutes to go.

Oh my, take a bow Steph Curry. A three-pointer shifts the momentum.

    Basketball - France 77-82 United States - men's gold-medal match

Victor Wembanyama - the NBA Rookie of the Year - is doing all he can to keep France's hopes alive, but his game-high 21 points just isn't enough for the might of the United States at the moment.

    Or is it?

Guerschon Yabusele of Real Madrid steals the ball and drives to the basket where he's fouled by LeBron James.

Yabusele fails with the first free-throw but lands the second. France have been wasteful with those - converting just 10 of 17.

    It's a five-point game!

The United States always seem to have an extra gear to call on as Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday finds a three-pointer to open up an 11-point lead.

France have the chance to hit back with two free-throws but they only take one.

Down the other end, LeBron James has the crowd on their feet after an emphatic dunk.

It's slick stuff from the skipper.

    Boxing - men's +92kg category final

You don't get the honour of being the flag bearer for your country on two occasions without being a star, right?

Step up Uzbekistan's Bakhodir Jalolov, who was handed that role at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.

Unbeaten in 52 amateur fights dating back to 2018 and in all 14 of his pro contests he is the reigning Olympic, World and Asian Games champion.

The CV of Spanish fighter Ayoub Ghadfa isn't quite as striking but write him off at your peril.

Ghadfa warmed up for Paris 2024 by winning European gold in April having won silver in 2022.

He took bronze at the World Championships last year.

A bit of complacency from the United States as they attempt to run the clock down at the end of the third quarter and France force their way back into this contest.

Just when you think the USA are starting to pull away, France drag themselves back into it.

    The roar is something else!
