Japan's Rikuto Tamai scores a 94.35 but defending champion Cao Yuan responds with a 92.20 to top the standings at the halfway stage.

Canada's Rylan Wiens is third, nine points clear of Noah Williams, with Kyle Kothari seventh.

Now, she's here on her own merit - and in with a good chance of landing a medal.

She took silver at the Grand Prix Finale event in Manchester which ultimately secured her spot at these Games, and she was totally dominant in her first-round match against Venice Traill.

There is a huge roar as Cao Yuan nails yet another dive, though it is not enough to lead after round two. That honour goes to Rikuto Tamai of Japan, who scores 95.40.

China's Yang Hao was fancied to challenge for a medal but is struggling down in 10th so far.

Much, much better. In the semi-final he shouldered the dive, that's not a million miles away, but that's much more of a safe distance. He's got wonderfully gifted hands without any splash. Look at that. Well done Kyle.

That's much better from Kyle Kothari, who clocks a 81.60 with his reverse 3½ Somersaults.

Yes, beautifully done Noah Williams. He always has a little bit of a challenge with this dive because it drifts and over-rotate, but he's managed to disguise that brilliantly. Noah just puts the pressure on those divers still to come.

Noah Williams is trending in the right direction. He registers a much-improved 86.40 to put pressure on the rest of the field.

Kyle Kothari, making his Olympic debut, registers 70.40 with his opening dive to sit in a tie for ninth after the opening round of dives, with Noah Williams in sixth.

Reigning Olympic champion Cao Yuan will take some beating. He scores a huge 96.90 to top the early standings ahead of Rikuto Tamai of Japan and Australia's Cassiel Rousseau

China are chasing a clean sweep of golds after winning seven out of seven so far.

Just a short break from the taekwondo as we await the arrival of GB's Rebecca McGowan in the middle of the iconic Grand Palais.

She will take on Uzbekistan's Svetlana Osipova in the women's +67kg quarter-final at 14:45 BST.

New Zealand's Lydia Ko is in control in the women's golf final round, opening up a three-shot lead at the top of the leaderboard.

Ko is one-under after eight rounds today on 10-under overall, with Germany's Esther Henseleit and Yin Ruoning tied second on seven-under.

Henseleit has been one of the biggest movers of the day, rising up the standings after shooting five-under through 11 holes.
