  4. 2024 Olympic medal table - day onepublished at 21:55 British Summer Time 27 July

A fantastic opening day for Australia, with three gold medals in the bag already. They are the early leaders.

Usual suspects China and United States are already well-placed, while that rugby sevens gold plus successes in fencing and judo have hosts France up in fourth.

South Korea round out the top five after Oh Sanguk won the men's individual epee gold, while Team GB are currently just outside the top 10.

But there's a long way to go.

I collared Aaron Grandidier in the mixed zone a few moments ago and asked how important that camaraderie has been to winning gold.
