Tokyo was a fantastic Games for Team GB swimmers and I could really see us backing that up here in Paris.

We have medal hopes all over the place, we have such depth in our relays as well. We have Adam Peaty too and there's always medals when you have Adam Peaty.

    Vamos!

A trademark Nadal winner goes racing away, and the first set has gone the way of Nadalcaraz.

If anything, that set showed how tricky it is for singles players to play specialist doubles players - there were times that Alcaraz looked as though he had forgotten there were two people on the other side of the net - but the Spanish duo have come through it well.

Well, I have just lost my last fiver... (see 6:46pm entry).

France were a force of nature tonight - and that force was called Antoine Dupont.

France were already playing well against the favourites Fiji, but the X factor from Dupont tipped the match in their favour.

    Incredible to watch.

Great Britain's Charley Davison is out of the bantamweight contest after being beaten - via a 3:2 split decision - by Hatice Akbas.

The 30-year-old, who said this would be her last Olympic Games before competing in Paris, lost the opening round before picking up form in the second. But it was not enough to overcome Turkey's 2022 world champion and she will not progress.

You can watch the fight highlights on iPlayer and the red button after the tennis concludes, with some eventing action to follow - and a very special dressage routine from Great Britain's Laura Collett.

UK users can choose from two television streams plus live radio coverage in the watch & listen tab (next to the live reporting tab) on this page.

Adam Peaty isn't the only Briton in action in the pool this evening.

James Wilby will feature alongside him in the 100m breaststroke semi-final (20:15 BST) after qualifying in sixth.

But it's GB's Keanna Macinnes who is up first after she qualified for the semi-finals of the women's 100m butterfly (19:30).

Both Team GB's men and women are also through to the 4x100m freestyle relay final.

Big night ahead for GB's Peatypublished at 19:19 British Summer Time 27 July

    Men's 100m breaststroke

Adam Peaty began his pursuit of a third consecutive 100m breaststroke Olympic gold medal by powering through to the semi-finals.

The 29-year-old won his race in 59.18 seconds to qualify with the second-fastest time of the heats.

The Briton, who broke the world record in the event in 2019 with a 56.88 swim, has taken time out in recent years to deal with periods of depression and alcohol problems.

His return to sport's biggest stage has been long anticipated and he can take one step towards defending his gold medal in tonight's semi-finals, which are coming up very shortly.
