The moment of realisation!
BBC One

Joe Fraser was absolutely delighted with his parallel bars routine, which has earned him 14.933. He was world champion on the apparatus in 2019 and so far that's the highest score of the day on it.
Two rounds down and GB are looking solid as they are leading the standings ahead of the United States. Team event gold-medal favourites Japan and China are in action later in the day so it will be a while before we know what the numbers all mean.
They're on horizontal bar next, a thrilling apparatus which when I watch I forget to breathe.

Here we go. Adam Peaty is ready to go. Red cap in lane four. The Paris crowd anticipate.

Unbelievable.
First Olympic medal for Great Britain in women's diving for 64 years.

You've got to feel for the Australians. It's all gone wrong on their final. It comes down to Italy. It's not good enough and it's going to be a bronze for Great Britain! Mew Jensen is in tears, reality is hitting. What an emotional moment it must be for both of them.
This is Britain's first opening day medal since 2004.

It's bronze for Scarlett Mew Jensen and Yasmin Harper! The pair secure Team GB's first medal of the Games.
It's Team GB's first opening day medal since 2004. The Australians looked well set to take third place but had a shocker with their final dive which saw them finish in fourth place.
China take the gold medal and USA take silver.

Woah woah woah...
That's a shocker from the Aussies!

It's not enough from Germany to overtake Great Britain for the bronze. That is one of the nations ticked.
Men's doubles badminton
British pair Ben Lane and Sean Vendy were beaten by Malaysia's Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik in a hard-fought match to begin their badminton men's doubles campaign.
Lane and Vendy started superbly, going up 5-0 early as they took the first game 21-19 at Porte de la Chapelle Arena.
But Chia and Soh hit back to win the second 21-16 and force a deciding game.
Both pairs were starting to feel the intensity of the first two games but the momentum was with the Malaysians and they pulled away to take the third 21-11 and seal a crucial win.
Lane and Vendy, who lost every match without winning a game in Tokyo three years ago, will likely have to beat top seeds Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang of China in their next match to keep their hopes of progressing from Group A alive.

That's good from Team GB but we turn and look straight to the scores.
They have gone into third but it only gives them an advantage of 58.68 over the Australians.
It's unlikely to be enough with the Aussies still to come.
If you switch over to our channel on iPlayer, red button and BBC Sport website you can watch men’s qualification in artistic gymnastics.
Team GB's Max Whitlock, Joe Fraser, Jake Jarman, Luke Whitehouse and Harry Hepworth are among those in action as they bid to make the individual and team finals. They start on vault, followed by parallel bars, horizontal bar, floor, pommel and rings.

12 points is a bit of a gap in fourth for Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew Jensen.
That is a big margin to make up with just one dive left.
You're looking for a mistake which is possible but unlikely.
We're into the final round of dives now in the women's synchronised 3m springboard.
Team GB's pair of Scarlett Mew Jensen and Yasmin Harper are in fourth place after four rounds.
China still occupy top spot.
Three-time Olympic gold medallist Adam Peaty said to BBC Radio 5 Live: "I am older, I am going to hurt more. My recovery will take longer. I'm in a good place, I feel strong and at peace. I've nothing to prove anymore, I've done everything I want to do in my life."
Olympic bronze medalist Steve Parry speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "They'll all have been shaving their legs last night. When you dive in that water, you want to be feeling like a missile. This is where maximum anxiety is. You walk into the arena for the first time and the crowd is building.
"Adam Peaty has had it tough over the last few years, whether it's personally, he broke his foot. I like the needle with China's Qin Haiyang, you don't get it a lot in swimming but it's good to see.
"All that matters in that final is beating the person next to you. You want to put a good time in the heats and then the semi-final tonight. Adam Peaty will want to put a marker down."

We're about to get under way with the heats for the men's 100m breaststroke.
You know what that means, it's almost Adam Peaty time...
The Brit, going for a record third consecutive gold medal in this event, is in heat four of five where the top 16 qualify.
Compatriot James Wilby is also in heat four and will swim in lane one.
Peaty's big competition comes in the form of China’s Qin Haiyang, who is swimming in heat number five having swept all three breaststroke events at the 2023 World Championships.

Unsurprisingly, the roof is on over Court Philippe Chatrier, which makes things extra loud.
Novak Djokovic has been out having a hit before his match a little later on this same court.
He spent some time after giving out some tennis balls to some little fans in the crowd, which was a lovely touch.
