    BBC Scotland in Paris

Duncan Scott will begin his attempt to further upholster his status as Britain's most decorated Olympic swimmer later today, when he plunges into the pool in the 4x100m freestyle relay (20:44 BST) search of a seventh medal in what will be his third Games.

He is the most prominent of the Scots amid Team GB competing on Saturday.

Lucy Hope will also have designs on a 4x100m freestyle medal (20:34), while Keanna MacInnes will go in the 100m butterfly semi-finals (19:30).

Away from the pool, Cameron Norrie will make his Games bow against Netherlands' Tallon Griekspoor in the men's tennis singles... should the weather play fair.

A daunting second-round tie with world number one and this year's French Open champion Carlos Alcaraz will likely await the winner.

What a cool job this person has. There's currently a diver in the swimming pool who is checking that all the underwater cameras are in working order before the action gets under way.

How do you get into that, then?

Three points safely pocketed thanks to goals from Gareth Furlong (two), Nick Park and Rupert Shipperley.

The first round of optional dives have really shaken the pack.

It is going to be tricky now for Great Britain to open this diving contest with a medal.

After an iffy third dive - a bit of over-rotation from Scarlett Mew Jensen to be precise - Team GB have dropped down to sixth after three dives of five in this contest for the medals.

There are less than nine points between sixth and third, however.

China are pulling clear in pursuit of gold and are being roared on by the crowd as they do.

I'm in awe of BBC diving commentator Leon Taylor. He gets a split second to call the dives as he sees them, initially without a replay, all with the pressure of the judges being able to make him look very silly by scoring things differently moments later.

    Gymnastics - men's qualifying

    Sonia Oxley
    BBC Sport in Paris

We're under way in the gymnastics, where it's men's qualification day.

Great Britain have made a good start on vault as they seek to reach the team final.

The top eight teams will advance to Monday’s team final, while the top 24 gymnasts qualify for the all-around final and the top eight on each apparatus reach the individual apparatus finals.

But world and European vault champion Jake Jarman was shaking his head after a bit of a messy landing on his second vault, which might end up costing him a place in the apparatus final. But his first vault scored a huge 15.166 which is a big boost for the team score and his all-around chances.

I truly have never been happier to say that it has stopped raining…

After a damp and yet still surprisingly warm walk - although that may say more about my fitness than the weather - I’ve arrived at Roland Garros, which is starting to fill up for a full day’s play.

Let’s just hope those rain covers come off sooner rather than later - although I did take quite the tumble on those silver walkways you can see in the distance thanks to the slippy rain…

Plenty of big names in the tennis, which gets under way at Roland Garros this morning.

World number one Iga Swiatek is up first on Court Philippe-Chatrier against Irina-Camelia Begu, before Wimbledon finalist Novak Djokovic - the highest-ranked player in the men's draw after Jannik Sinner's withdrawal - faces Australia's Matthew Ebden.

Carlos Alcaraz, the man who beat Djokovic at Wimbledon earlier this month, is second on Court Suzanne-Lenglen, against Haby Habib of Lebanon. He plays after Jasmine Paolini - also a finalist at the All England Club this year - faces Ana Bogdan.

A few Britons in action early too: Jack Draper is first up on court six against Kei Nishikori, and will be followed on that court by Cameron Norrie's match against Tallon Griekspoor, and Dan Evans versus Moez Echargui. Katie Boulter is third on court 11, against Anna Karolina Schmiedlova.

Keanna Macinnes' time of 57.90 seconds is enough to see her through to this evening's 100m butterfly semi-final in 16th place.

China's Zhang Yufei was the fastest to qualify with a time of 56.50 and American Torri Huske qualified in third with 56.20 seconds while defending Olympic champion Maggie MacNeil recorded 57 seconds flat.

You get an insight into the dynamics of diving while here in the venue. While the USA are diving, the Team GB pair are stood at the bottom of the steps. They can't see the boards or the pool so know how their competitors have done by the volume of the cheers from the crowd.

A huge cheer must lead to a sinking feeling?

Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew Jensen are in the mix but their second dive wasn't quite as good as it could have been.

Spare a thought for the gardener who looks after the gymnastics venue…

The Bercy Arena’s very steep sides are covered in real grass, begging the question – how on earth do you mow it?

Apparently they do it with mowers attached to ropes… presumably some sort of robot mowers rather than the ones we might have in garden sheds. But who knows… we’ll keep an eye out.

Not sure about weeding it, though.

Keanna Macinnes is going to have to wait to find out if that time of 57.90 seconds is enough for her to reach the semi-finals.

She started well, right on the tail of defending Olympic champion Maggie MacNeill, but fell away somewhat to finish sixth in the heat.

Her favoured event is generally the 200m butterfly but she will want to get off to a good start here. One more heat to go...

Team GB duo Ben Lane and Sean Vendy are heading into a deciding game in their opening group match in the badminton men's doubles.

The Britons won the first game 21-19 but Malaysia's Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik have hit back to take the second 21-16.

With top seeds Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang of China also in Group A, this is a crucial match for both pairs.
