Redruth 'character' praised by boss after Canterbury loss in National Two South

Redruth showed "great heart" to almost beat Canterbury despite conceding three tries in the opening 10 minutes, says boss Marek Churcher.

Having been 21-0 down, the Reds led 26-24 before eventually going down 34-26 in an entertaining National Two South game at the Rec.

A Shaun Buzza hat-trick and try from Lewis Vinnicombe put the Reds ahead, before two late tries for the visitors.

"The character that the boys have shown has been fantastic," Churcher said.

The loss was Redruth's first at home this season and their third in a row as their unbeaten start to the season has begun to unravel.

"We've lost, it's not the end of the world, we've got positives to pick up on, we've got improvements, little bits of game management," Churcher added to BBC Radio Cornwall.

"We've got to rebuild now. There's a bit of competition for places, we've got guys coming back this week, we've got the navy boys back this week, so it's great for us."
