Redruth forward Chris Fuca had a 300th game for the club to forget as the Reds lost 43-25 at National Two South high-fliers Old Elthamians.

The Cornish side were three tries behind at half time as they suffered their second defeat of the season.

"It's probably not one he would want to remember, but he was outstanding throughout the game," head coach Marek Churcher said of the veteran back-row.

"It's important people look at him and his honesty and loyalty to the club."

Fourth-placed Redruth slipped further behind leaders Chinnor who are now 10 points clear of the Cornish side and one ahead of Old Elthamians, with both teams winning all of their nine games so far.

"When you look at the bigger picture, we've lost to the two teams above us in the league away, so we've still got them to come down tom Redruth, which we'll make as tough as we possibly can," Churcher told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"We were three tries down at half time but credit to our guys, in the second we put up a real good fight and a second half performance we can be proud of."
