Ioan Nicholas fights his way through and then Johnny Williams follows to earn 14-man Scarlets a penalty... that Lloyd converts from long range.

Sam Lousi has put a lot of pressure on Cardiff scrum-half Ellis Bevan and has started the game well in the rucks, so Dwayne Peel will be very disappointed to see him off for 10 minutes.

Efan Daniel was actually pretty lucky to come out of that without injury, with Thomas rolling him one way and Lousi sending his legs the other.

Well that's a strange one. Henry Thomas has actually only been penalised for the neck roll.

But Sam Lousi has been binned for a croc roll on an opponent's leg.

Don't ask me to explain difference in rolls!

Scarlets down to 14 for the next 10 minutes.

There's a delay while referee Craig Evans is looking at a replay of Henry Thomas' tackle on Efan Daniel. Possible neck roll.

Johnny Williams has shown how powerful he is so far, winning metres every time he gets the ball so far today.

Once again, Scarlets look dangerous with ball in hand but they get to the 22 and give a penalty away and concede possession. It takes the pressure off Cardiff and lets them get out of their own half.

    Cardiff 0-3 Scarlets

Ioan Lloyd absolutely bossed this game last season, running rings around Cardiff as Scarlets completed the double over their rivals.

    Ironically he's a Cardiff boy.

He's just gone on another mazy run but is then nailed by Josh McNally. Welcome back Ioan!

You can see Scarlets are going hard at the breakdown with Josh Macleod putting heavy pressure on Cardiff as they try to keep hold of their ball.

Scarlets will be happy to take the lead and get the three points they deserve.

Josh Macleod leads the way as all good skippers do by wining a penalty at the breakdown and Lloyd kicks the opening points.

    Cardiff 0-0 Scarlets

Kemsley Mathias gave away the most penalties in the URC last season and he's given away another one at the breakdown just as Scarlets were edging up field.

The prop has to get that out of his game if he wants to push obn.

By coincidence, fellow Scarlets prop Alec Hepburn has given away the most penalties this season!

The Scarlets pack will relish winning that scrum penalty early on. It's a pack which have had questions asked of them and that's how you want to open the game by showing you're not the scrum on the back foot.

    Cardiff 0-0 Scarlets

The first scrum ends with a Scarlets penalty.

Nice early boost for Mathias, Van der Merwe and Thomas.

Busy start. You can see the intent from Scarlets to get off the line in defence and put pressure on Cardiff, they overcooked it there and gave the penalty away.

Your discipline has to be spot on.

Cardiff have a penalty but De Beer sends it beyond the dead ball line. That's an uncharacteristic mistake from the fly-half.

Let's see if Cardiff can survive the kick off today without conceding a try!

Two weeks ago they tried to catch Scarlets off guard with a sneeky switch at the last second... it ended 14 seconds later with Scarlets centre Macs Page running under the posts to score!

    Oops.

Scarlets head coach Dwayne Peel: "They are always competitive fixtures, us against Cardiff, like the one at Parc y Scarlets a couple of weeks ago.

"The Arms Park is a fast track and we always seem to have a great support there - all the west Walians living in Cardiff come out to support us.

"It is always a good atmosphere and a sea of red. Hopefully it will be the same [today] and we can get a win from there.

"It is a good healthy rivalry, two teams who like to play rugby, it will be a good occasion.”

Cardiff head coach Matt Sherratt said: “It promises to be a great occasion with a packed Cardiff Arms Park and two teams that like to play attacking rugby.

“They will be hugely motivated and will bring a lot of physicality. We've planned on them coming here and being at their absolute best and we’re excited for that challenge.

“We played some great attacking rugby last weekend and I was proud of the way the team fought back despite being down to 14 men.

"This week we need an all-round performance and are determined to give our fans something to be proud of.”
