    British and Irish Lions

Lions scrum half Alex Mitchell, speaking to Sky Sports: "I mean awesome to get the win, a bit of a scrappy game.

"We found a way to get points on the board. Fair play to the Waratahs, they were tough today, and they made everything a fight. We're not there yet, but we're getting there.

"I think we struggled, the greasy ball, the breakdown made it tough for us."

On the half-time team talk: "It was for us half-backs to get more control - we were a bit loose with the ball.

"We needed to put pressure back on them, but errors kept them in the game.

"Overall, pretty happy, but we need to go again."

On his plans for this evening: "Not sure what I'm going to do tonight. Sydney is amazing. I might have a few schooners tonight, but we will wait and see."

Finlay Bealham is straight up the stands and returns to the pitch with his toddler in arms where Tadgh Furlong and Ellis Genge are now showering her with attention. She seems unfazed by the big, burning red faces to be fair to her.

Meanwhile Pollock needs to keep an eye on Finn Russell's young daughter who has taken a shining to Bil the Lion.

British and Irish Lions head coach Andy Farrell says his son Owen will "probably not" be involved on Wednesday against the Brumbies.

He said they will need to look at jet-lag and other factors.

British and Irish Lions captain Tadgh Beirne, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was not the step forward that we were looking for. It was scrappy at times and we lacked cohesion.

"We took a step up in the scrum and line-out but it is frustrating not to be clinical.

"The handling errors are easy fixes."

When you’re a player, these are the games that frustrate you the most. The Lions will be annoyed for days after this because nobody has been able to really show their best, especially for the backline.

Time is ticking for the Lions, they've got to start gelling before that first Test. Too many mistakes at the breakdown. Andy Farrell has got to get them playing as a team.

FT: NSW Waratahs v Lions 10-21

Many home fans arrived at the stadium worried about the scoreline today knowing this is far from a vintage NSW Waratahs team.

I'd think they'll be fairly content with only two scores separating the sides at the final whistle.

The Lions bench throw their heads back in frustration as one of the final passes of play ends in another knock-on.

Poor performance from the Lions. The real winners today are the Wallabies. This performance and the one against Argentina will give them a lot of confidence.

It's great when you can rack up fifty points a game and look good doing it.

But this game has, at the very least, been a contest and in some areas the Lions have been found lacking.

But better now than in a fortnight's time.

One of the areas has been the breakdown where NSW Waratahs have been aggressive and the Lions have been penalised on numerous occasions.

And then there have been the handling errors. Going to need more than my fingers and toes to add them up….

Marcus Smith kicks the ball dead from a penalty. You simply can't do that if you want a Test spot.

  17. No try - Lionspublished at 76 mins

Another scrum penalty. Another handling error.

The good and bad of this Lions performance.
