    Ireland 0-0 England

England can't gather the line-out and Ireland clear.

This has all been rather chaotic so far. Which is great to watch but not so good for free-flowing rugby.

Dave: Ireland should have too much firepower for England today, but I'm not confident enough to bet my mortgage on it.

  4. Replacementpublished at 16:51 Greenwich Mean Time

    Ireland 0-0 England

This is scrappy, scrappy stuff from Ireland. They win the throw but a pass goes through the legs of James Ryan and into touch.

There's a big worry for Simon Easterby as Mack Hansen is forced off after four minutes.

Centre Robbie Henshaw is on in his place, and Garry Ringose slots onto the win.

This is a bright start from the visitors!

England do well to regather there after coming under some big pressure.

It's sent high for Hugo Keenan, who gathers. Ireland return the kick and Marcus Smith spots a gap!

He's almost through and England are into the 22!

  7. 'It is absolutely buzzing'published at 16:48 Greenwich Mean Time

There has been lots of chat about the atmosphere being too corporate and expensive for young kids. It is absolutely buzzing here!

  8. Postpublished at 16:48 Greenwich Mean Time

    Ireland 0-0 England

Ireland win the throw through Ryan Baird and Jamison Gibson-Park clears his lines.

Murley gathers it and he's absolutely clattered by Mack Hansen. That's a huge roar!

Marcus Smith sends the ball high into the Dublin sky and Ireland can't claim it!

It's England's ball and they look to dink it through for Cadan Murley, but it bounces into touch.

    A tight afternoon ahead?

England's three victories in the Six Nations last year came by really narrow margins.

They defeated Italy by three points, Wales by two points and Marcus Smith's drop goal gave England 23-22 win over Ireland.

There should also be plenty of tries. England have scored at least 15 points in all 20 matches since the start of the 2023 Rugby World Cup.

This is normally a fixture we see a little later in the championship.

Indeed, this is the first time since 2019 that Ireland welcome England in their first game.

Home fans this evening won't want reminded of that day five years ago when a rampaging Manu Tuilagi ushered in a difficult final year in charge for Ireland's beloved head coach Joe Schmidt.

    Matt Dawson

England do have quality and they have depth. They are probably wondering how and earth does such quality not have driven them to such success. I put it down to the decision making that hasn't been good enough.

Some mixed message being sent out by the fancy dress in this group.

It turns out that Angela, Matt, Barty and Will are all England fans, but after a boozy lunch some emerald sequinned cowboy hats felt like a good idea.

They have come over for the game from Burnham on Crouch in Essex.

The mood is one of cautious optimism, with Matt confidently stating that "we'll do better than Wales".

If they don't it will be one heck of a story.
