Marcus Smith has been really electric when he gets the ball in his hands. He looks so dangerous when he is running around on the arc.

He is finding spaces in this Irish defence which we are not used to seeing.

Dave: This tactic of going for the corner instead of taking three easy points from a penalty kick is something Ireland should leave to the Barbarians - it rarely works in Test rugby, and they should really be winning this game.

    Ireland 5-7 England

    Mike Henson
    BBC Sport at Aviva Stadium

England's fleet-footed back-row gamble is paying off so far with Ben Earl, Tom and Ben Curry stirring up Ireland's usual intricate patterns, getting into eyelines and ribcages at pace.

The bench is heavier-duty with Tom Willis, Chandler Cunningham-South and Ollie Chessum among the replacements. Whether they will be able to keep up that pace in the scond half is another thing. Perhaps England will change tactics as well as personnel.

Ireland will want to keep the tempo high. England are trying to slow play down and get the physios on to look at them.

We're edging ever closer to half time.

Just three minutes remain in a breathless opening 40 minutes.

Garry Ringrose is caught isolated in possession and England manage to pinch it.

They try that kick into the corner again, but this time it bobbles into touch rather than the arms of the chasing Murley.

Do England ever actually work on their discipline? They will end up conceding the most penalties this championship, as usual.

Even this almighty England defence couldn't stop James Lowe there.

Ireland needed a moment of inspiration. Lowe - as he often does against England - delivered.

Great finish by Jamison Gibson-Park, too.

  14. Conversion missed as Smith returns from binpublished at 17:29 Greenwich Mean Time

    Ireland 5-7 England

Yikes, Sam Prendergast sends the conversion wide. That looked like a gimmie, but Ireland are back in the game.

England are also back to their full complement as Marcus Smith returns the field.

  15. try

    Jamison Gibson-Park

    Ireland out of nowhere!

James Lowe picks the ball up on halfway and shows serious strength to hold off Alex Mitchell.

He pops it inside to Jamison Gibson-Park, who steps inside Freddie Steward and he is able to dive over.

    That's a superb score!

Ireland have shipped two penalties in England's '22' while another was negated by them playing with advantage.

A third was just on the edge, and there's been a knock-on and a forward pass deep into opposition territory too.

It's as much where the hosts are making their mistakes as it is how many.

  17. 'Prendergast looks so relaxed'published at 17:27 Greenwich Mean Time

    Ireland 0-7 England

    Tommy Bowe
Former Ireland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Sam Prendergast looks so relaxed. When he gets the ball in his hands, things go in slow motion.

Ireland win the throw but England manage to disrupt the maul.

They go through the hands and the backs look to make some yards...but there's another knock on at the crucial moment.

England are offside again and Ireland have the advantage.

Hugo Keenan is almost through, but play is brought back and Ireland have another penalty.

There's a bit of a scuffle as the two sides get to know each other that little bit better. No harm done.
