That's it from Rodney Parade where Ireland have simply powered past hosts Wales to all-but guarantee third place in the Six Nations.

They hit Wales with six of the best with all their tries coming from the pack.

Prop Linda Djougang, lock Dorothy Wall and player of the match Aoife Wafer all scored two apiece in a commanding display.

Quite frankly, the scoreline could and should have been more.

For Wales, the wait for Sean Lynn's first win as head coach goes on.

They scored early through Carys Cox but then shipped 33 points before replacement Hannah Bluck crossed in the second half.

Ireland back row Aoife Wafer, speaking to BBC Sport Wales: "It's huge. We can take a lot out of that but we can also build on it.

"We gave Wales some really easy ins at the breakdown and put that put us defending when we wanted to attack. So there's a lot to build on.

"We speak about being the most connected team in the world. I think that shows on the pitch, but it's not only the 15 out there or 23, we've girls at home who are injured and we'd love them to take to the pitch with us. We play for them as well.

"We can take a lot from it. Winning away is tough, so to do it in Parma and Wales, the crowd were brilliant, so to quieten them down and put on our own game is something we can take from it. "

Italy away next week is going to be a very tough fixture for Wales.

Italy play on passion and will not want to lose at home.

They gave an outstanding performance to beat Scotland away and will be targeting Wales after looking at this game.

They have key players in key positions. Without any disrespect, we used to target Italy as the game we would win but that's just not the case anymore. It's going to be really tough.

I think we started off strong but we didn't carry it on for the rest of the game. It's hard to win a game with 10 plus penalties against us.

This is not how we wanted things to go but we've only just got a new coach, he's changing the way we're going to play and that's going to take time.

The Ireland number eight is such an exciting prospect for the game.

She leads the entire Six Nations for metres carried and showed her class again today with some crazy stats.

She made another 24 carries for 173 mteres.

For context, that's more than the entire Welsh pack combined.

Oh... and she scored two tries as well. Not a bad day's work.
