Alex Callender had a word with the referee after that try.

She thought she had her hands on the ball a couple of times at various breakdowns during the build up to that try but was warned away by the ref each time.

The Wales back-row is not happy.

Aoife Wafer really is something else. There was more lovely build-up play from Ireland. When they get close to the try line they are so hard to keep out.

There was no stopping the big number eight from a yard out.

Ireland just kept building and building, they kept their patience, kept the ball edging closer and the big forward crashes over.

Wales simply ran out of energy to hold out.

Yes Philippa, the opening 25 minutes have been a whirlwind and some players are already puffing hard... especially in this heat.

That's not something you often say in Newport!

You can already see so many players with hands on hips. It's been frantic and it will be hard to sustain this for the whole game.

Interesting one. Ireland have a penalty in front of the posts but O'Brien aims for the corner. Ambitious.

Ouch. She's sliced that one and Ireland don't quite get the position they were hoping for.

There are going to be some questions asked by Wales coach Sean Lynn about that try.

Djougang is powerful but you expect more from Georgia Evans and Kelsey Jones.

One went high, one went low and they both missed the Irish prop.

That was a brilliant bit of play by Ireland. There were exiting moves from the backs there and Aoife Wafer is having a standout tournament.

Finally they make a chance count.

Number eight Aoife Wafer does the initial damage as she charged down the left-hand touchline.

Ireland recycle and the pop barges through some pretty tame tackling by Wales.

    Oh dear.

Ireland's set-piece is looking really efficient already.

Can't say the same about their general play however. They've been into the Welsh 22 three times already and got nothing.

Carys Cox try, Keira Bevan con

A real opportunistic finish from the wing that all came from a dangerous kick through from Lleucu George.

Costigan was caught in two minds whether to let the ball bounce over the line or pick it up.

But she was smashed by Jaz Joyce and the ball coughed up for Cox to pounce.

Bevan converts from out wide and Wales draw first blood.
