    Just over 20 minutes gone and Bristol trail Clermont Auvergne after wing Alex Newsome motored over in the corner to score the opening try.

    That score came moments after Bears fly-half Harry Byrne was sent to the sin-bin for a cynical offside as the visitors were stretched to the limit in defence.

    Bristol need to dig in with their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stage in the balance.
