What he doesn't give you in pace on the wings these days, Liam Williams, he gives you in aerial ability.

His speed of thought was just too quick for Winnett.

    Outstanding skill from Liam Williams.

Liam Williams leaps and out-jumps Hendrikse for the ball. He tries an audatious reverse pass but Cameron Winnett just fails to gather.

Just from this 40 minutes you can see what Wales have missed without Williams.

Wales are taking advantage of the South African mistakes.

There's quite a battle out on that pitch and there's a lot of pride in this Welsh performance.

Yes. And if you're Warren Gatland you will be telling the players to keep getting in South Africa's faces because it is working.

If you're Rassie Erasmus now at half time, it's been a very scrappy last 20 minutes.

Faf de Klerk's put one out on the full, there's been two knock-ons, they're just not giving themselves any opportunities, South Africa, and it's allowing Wales back into this game.

    Sam Costelow

Well while you were talking Derwyn, Costelow has just added another penalty for a deliberate knock on by South Africa as Ellis Bevan looked to spread the ball wide.

Somehow Wales are just a point behind!

It's a brilliant kick from Costelow. He is a good kicker, although he missed a disappointing one earlier.

Wales are right back into it, battling hard, Dewi Lake more than anyone.

It's good defensive work from Dewi Lake, chasing a lost cause.

The ball drops into his hands and he just has to run six or seven metres, and Wales are over the tryline for the first time in this game.

  9. Converted try: South Africa 14-10 Walespublished at 30 mins

Dewi Lake try, Sam Costelow con

Wales hit back with their first try... and it was an opportunist score for the skipper!

Lake's lineout throw actually misses the target but he was quick to snaffle up the lose ball and he piles through Faf de Klerk to score in the corner.

Great conversion from Costelow and Wales are somehow back in this.

It's not a red card for me. It shouldn't even be a yellow.

  11. Sin-bin: Aphelele Fassi (South Africa)published at 29 mins

    South Africa 14-3 Wales

Yep, he's gone. It was reckless and now it's South Africa down to 14 men.

That sin bin is busy today!

That's also under review so it could be upgraded to red.

After the early outburst by the Springboks, this game has turned a little bit scrappy which I suspect Wales will be happy with.

It feels like a home game for the Springboks.

Owen Watkin's now playing at 12 and when he plays there Wales tend to try to get the ball out to the wings.

Worth noting that Wales did not concede any points then when down to 13 men.

Says a lot about their character and that will have been noted by Gatland.

Dyer took his time getting back up to match speed there when he was absolutely skinned by Edwill van der Merwe.

Wainwright back on and Wales are at full strength.

Oh the new cap Ellis Bevan should have been in then.

Liam Williams picks off an interception. He flicks the ball up to Mason Grady who does the same for Bevan but the scrum-half can't gather.

What a debut that would have been.

There's a big responsibility on Sam Costelow's shoulders, but he's got to get those points.

    South Africa 14-3 Wales

Sam Costelow is trying to run things here.

He tries a little chip over the top for Grady and Watkin to chase but South Africa clear.

But the Wales fly-half is waiting for the clearance and leaves Boks wing Mapimpi standing with a beautiful sidestep. That was glorious.
