More likely the deciding factor being the two Lions tries in the second Test that shouldn't have stood.

The Lions are playing like a team that has just won a series, and the Wallabies are playing like they feel there was an injustice against them last week.

Australia are good for their half-time lead and I don't think we are going to see a high-scoring game here so it is going to be a slog for the Lions and they have to makes changes soon.

Injuries to Itoje and Freeman just show how Farrell got his squad wrong. No Cummings and no winger on the bench.

If Itoje can deliver another win and a 3-0 series whitewash he will go down in history.

I read Tom English's piece with Willie John McBride earlier this week, that’s the sort of company Itoje will be keeping should they do this.

They will be speaking to him in 30 or 40 years about the success of this series.

Shane Horgan said this before Itoje was forced off injured. If the Lions lose it will only further show his importance.

The opposite type of opening half to last weekend - one try instead of six, and eight points instead of forty - but still a gripping battle with both teams piling into the contest.

But because of the appalling conditions, it's been chaotic, with plenty of collateral damage.

Maro Itoje and Tom Lynagh have both failed HIAs and Tommy Freeman has also been forced off.

Do the Lions have to score first in the second half if they are to keep alive hopes of a whitewash?

  10. Wallabies with a dominant first halfpublished at 11:54 British Summer Time 2 August

    HT: Australia 8-0 Lions

    Nigel Ringland

Australia have dominated possession and territory and more importantly the breakdown.

From a Lions point of view they’ve only conceded eight points.

Last week the Wallabies faded in the second half, can they sustain this level of physicality for the 80 minutes?

The Lions bench will be key but the loss of Itoje is huge.

Couldn't agree more with texter Andrew.

If the Wallabies go on to win this - and they are in the box seat - how much will they regret that meek opening half in Brisbane?

Meanwhile Maro Itoje has failed his HIA and Tommy Freeman has also been forced off. The Lions are all at sea in the Sydney wet.

  18. Wallabies have come to playpublished at 11:44 British Summer Time 2 August

    Australia 8-0 Lions

    Lauren Jenkins
    BBC Sport at Stadium Australia

The Aussies have shown some slick handling skills in torrential rain and are looking like the more connected side tonight despite being without their first choice tight-head prop, blindside flanker and fly-half.

They seem to be using the sense of injustice from Test two as extra motivation.

That said, defensively the Lions have been outstanding. Having started with a five metre scrum the Wallabies ended up back behind their 22 and have to settle for the three points.

It's 67% possession, 66% territory to the hosts at the 35-minute mark.

Australia's passiveness in the opening 50 minutes of the first Test was the deciding factor in this series. Since then it has been a close battle, with the Wallabies arguably the better side.
