I can't lose sight of what an incredible try that was under pressure for Australia.

    England had it!

How many times have England had the game under their control and they go back to this dreaded box kick. It gets them in trouble every single time. For 65 minutes, England were fantastic. In the last 15 minutes, they were rubbish.

Defeat for England is their fifth in six matches.

Just how do they get over the line in these tight affairs?

What a finish by Australia. We all thought they would try and engineer a drop-goal. Then they peel away and England's defence hinged in like they have been doing all day.

A lovely offload from Len Ikitau to release Max Jorgensen.

  4. Full-time - England 37-42 Australiapublished at 17:13 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November

Ben Donaldson's excellent conversion was the last play. The Allianz Stadium is dumfounded.

England throw away another lead late on.

    Heartbreak for England.

It looked like Australia were setting themselves for the kick at goal, but they move it wide and Len Ikitau carries hard before producing a deft offload out the back for Max Jorgensen to run clear.

Ben Donaldson nudges the conversion over.

So, have England learned how to close out a tight Test match?

I would love to hear Steve put his hand up and say he made a mistake last week in taking Smith off.

It hasn't been the highest quality Test match at times. All the positives come for England when they play with intent.

Swing lo, sweet chariot rings out around Allianz Stadium as England's fans try and get their boys over the line.

England lead by two with minutes to play. We've been here before though...

Coincidence that England are offering far more in attack now that Spencer isn't on the pitch, box kicking every chance he gets? Far better ball carrying, far more zip about them. Now they need to keep the pressure on!

There will be plenty of Harlequins fans wondering over from the stands saying they have seen plenty of that over the years.

    Marcus kicks that beautifully.

Play at pace. That try comes from keeping the ball alive. Harry Randall is playing at a high tempo.

Converted Try - England 30-28 Australiapublished at 67 mins

    Ollie Sleightholme (con Marcus Smith)

    A brace for Ollie Sleightholme.

England take a quick line-out and Marcus Smith spots the opportunity to attack. Ollie Lawrence sets the platform and Alex Dombrandt moves it wide for Sleightholme to double his Test tally.

Smith cracks an impressive conversion from close to the touchline and England regain the lead.

Harry Wilson is showing signs of a concussion after a low hit on Maro Itoje. The Australia captain tried to stagger back into the line but play is stopped so he can receive some attention.

That will be the end of his game, I'm sure.

Here comes the pre-planned substitution of George Ford on. Has Borthwick already forgotten what happened last weekend?!

England need to get the focus back, it all seems a bit razzle-dazzle. They need to focus now, go through the drill, smack Australia back and suck the energy and life out of them. Then use the skills of Smith. It's as simple as that.

  20. Replacement - Ford on for Furbankpublished at 62 mins

    England 23-28 Australia

    George Ford is on.

But he replaces George Furbank, with Marcus Smith moving to full-back. Harry Randall is also on for Ben Spencer at scrum-half.
