Trust Borthwick will give Smith the full 80 given he appears to be in good form. None of this 'fashionable' replacement nonsense, please.

Play is paused again with Tom Curry lying on the turf. The England flanker will receive treatment on the field.

    Now then.

We are having a small pause in proceedings as it appears an England player may have to go off for a HIA.

It is not clear who it is, but someone's smart mouthguard has flagged up a big contact.

It's England wing Immanuel Feyi-Waboso and he will go off to get checked.

Let's hope Smith stays on; he seems, from your comments (am in France so relying on you), to be really playing well.

Australia look to hit back and surge down the field before losing possession at the breakdown.

That hands England the chance to run it back but Tommy Freeman is hauled down inside the Wallaby 22.

You can see in that try the way England are changing who is at first receiver. George Furbank stepped in and sent Ollie Lawrence up for carry. Marcus Smith then jumps back in. The attack is starting to shape up.

Chandler Cunningham-South sounds like an England player from yesteryear. Still at Oxford, studying the classics.

There is definitely a case of white-line fever on that play. We have got to pick out Marcus Smith there, setting it up, throwing quick phase ball.

    Chandler Cunningham-South at the double.

Or is he? The powerful back row gets over the line from close range, but does he retain control of the ball as he grounds it?

He does and the try stands. It follows a terrific break by Marcus Smith, who adds the conversion.

I am not sure England need to be testing themselves with that offside line, they are so organised and Australia are taking the ball pretty static.

Great skills from England in the tightest of areas. I think that kick through from Marcus Smith was pre-planned. I've seen Bath use it.

Very clinical. When you have a magician like Marcus Smith, the vision of the guy and the communication from him. I probably thought Australia should have covered in some way because the ball had a few bounces.

    England have lift off.

Marcus Smith cuts back against the traffic and prods the ball behind the Australia defence with Ollie Lawrence powering through to take it.

The hosts recycle the ball well and move it wide for Chandler Cunningham-South to cross in the corner. Smith misses the conversion.

Nice passing from England, I enjoyed that. They seemed to understand what they wanted each other to do [Smith, Freeman and Slade].

They may be wearing different numbers, but in defence, England's midfield has reverted to type.

Henry Slade is positioned at outside centre and Ollie Lawrence is inside.
