Ben Spencer picks up the Premiership trophy, rushes to his team-mates and the fireworks and celebrations begin...

Golden tickertape and streamers to mark a golden season for Bath, both domestically and in Europe.

The only other club to have done a similar treble are currently doing a lap of appreciation and seeking out their own families.

Now it's Bath's turn... and the noise is even louder. The players have medals hung round their necks and file past the glistening trophy to the presentation plinth... smiles all round, none bigger than Finn Russell's... he's done what he came to Bath to do, and in some style this afternoon.

Leicester Tigers get a rousing reception as they head to the plinth to collect their runners-up mementoes... presumably medals, but in boxes... defeated teams don't seem to enjoy wearing them in the immediate aftermath of disappointment.

Wholesome scenes as the Bath players seek out their families on the sidelines in the north west corner of this grand old place.

None of these children were born the last time Bath won the title in 1996. In fact plenty of the players weren't either.

A new chapter of Bath Rugby has been written this season, and it was jam packed with silverware.

Fitting that the last act of Ben Youngs’ career was needlessly box kicking the ball away. Absolutely mindless decision.

    Gary

Why did the most experienced player Ben Youngs kick the ball? Brainless 2 mins to go - need to keep the ball!!

    Neill

The silver lining is, Dan Cole's last ever jersey won't need washing before he frames it.

We've seen the Leicester players pick themselves up from the turf and handshakes all round. They have retreated to the west side of the pitch where there is some shade afforded by the roof of the stand.

Guy Pepper has been named as player of the match as is being interviewed on the field - he'd just wish it had been capped with a memorable solo try after his bulldozing effort down the left flank was chalked-off after an earlier knock-on.

Not the greatest final of all time, but one of the most dramatic climaxes you could wish to see.

Both sides gave it their all on a sweltering day at Twickenham, conditions which certainly played a part.

In the end the difference was Finn Russell, he kept his cool in the cauldron and slotted what turned out to be a decisive penalty after being barged by Dan Cole 10 minutes from time.

He had earlier intercepted Handre Pollard's pass and blazed clear to tee-up Max Ojomoh for Bath's second try, which looked likely to be decisive at the time.

Credit to Leicester who gave it their all with 14 men until the final seconds, managing to pull within two points courtesy of Emeke Ilione four minutes from time, but the table-toppers Bath, the class of the field all season long, held their nerve to write their names into club history and complete a historic treble.

The spirit. We may be questioning their ability to make obvious incisions into the opposition but Leicester's spirit is of the highest order.

It runs through the club, you can talk about decades.

They don't know when they are done.

Emeka Ilione scores for LeicesterImage source, PA Media

Emeka Ilione has just taken the roof off the north end of Twickenham as he wrestles and wriggles his way through the Bath wall and crashes to ground to the right of the posts.

Handre Pollard adds the conversion and it's a TWO-POINT GAME with mere moments remaining. The 14-men have hope with three minutes on the clock.

It's all up for grabs now...

    Finn Russell milked that.

It's a tough one because Dan Cole has gone airborne but I think what the issue is that motion of taking the arms down, turning the shoulder into Finn Russell has made it look a lot worse than it was.

Dan Cole jumps into the air and goes through on Finn Russell as he launched a kick, he was in the air, side-on, full impact. Can't have too many complaints. Though he is protesting his innocence.

Russell picks himself off to send the kick straight down the middle. to make it a two-score game.

Cole might only have a matter of seconds back on the field at the final whistle.

Bath fans here are not happy here at Twickenham after referee removed the try score for a questionable knock-on. This should not be allowed. After conversion is scored we move forward with play & not backwards.

    Becks at Allianz Stadium Twickenham

I guess you're even less happy now Becks.
