    Bath 3-7 Leicester

Miles Reid and Will Muir threatened to break through down the Bath left, with their side turning the ball over at the breakdown through Guy Pepper and then Muir flattening Adam Radwan.

However, the Tigers defence recovered to keep them at bay... for now...

The Aussies will be loving watching this start from Finn Russell, he’s having a shocker so far.

Now Finn Russell makes a real hash of a kick to touch, nothing is working at present.

The conditions are definitely taking their toll, there are a lot of hands on hips at every pause in play. We're only just over midway through the first half.

Great break from Adam Radwan, nearly got all the way through.

What's slightly concerning me is how slow Leicester are to get to him. They are not reacting, there's an opportunity there. I'm watching Nicky Smith, he's still walking.

It's not ideal 22 minutes in.

Adam Radwan showed what he could do against Sale a week ago, and he almost broke away from four would-be tacklers in midfield, eventually getting hauled down well inside the Bath half.

This is not the Bath we have seen all season long.

Tigers are actually dealing with the Bath phase play really well but all of the good is coming from Ben Spencer's kicking. The timing of it is so good, it's getting about a three or four second hang time and all of the Bath players are getting in front of the Leicester defenders and really challenging the air making it very tough for Freddie Steward at the back.

Somehow Tigers have to slow down this kick chase and put some more pressure on Spencer because he's winning the aerial game.

Some sloppy handling from Finn Russell after a Bath lineout leads to huge cheers from the Tigers (and English non-Bath) fans in the house.

That's seven handling errors from Bath, who are making the ball look like a bar of soap.

Maybe the heat is making the ball slick with sweat?

They do pick up a penalty at the scrum though, which will give them territory and make them feel better.

The black, blue and white do need to sharpen up, however...

    Leicester are just not competing.

Leicester are just happy to get that initial tackle out the way, white wall across the field, and Bath are just struggling to penetrate, which is really unlike them.

It all seems to be a little bit static for them.

No one team in the overall ascendancy thus far, Bath have been better in the air and at the breakdown, the Tigers have bossed the scrum.

Joe Cokanasiga was on the end of a timely tackle on the right flank and then popped up again to get on the end of a pass from Finn Russell after some magic, only to knock the ball on.

Bath can't find a way through the Tigers wall at present - they went through 14 phases deep in the Leicester half but depart empty handed.

Not sure if I've made enough of this so far, but boy is it hot and humid at Twickenham. Officially 25 degrees, but it'll feel 30+ down there on the turf in this giant bowl.

A far cry from the dark days of November and December.

They've spilled blood in pursuit of glory this season, now it's time for the sweat... and later there'll probably be tears too, one way or another.

The shirts by now are going to be full of sweat after cranking it up in the changing room and getting onto the pitch.

Beautiful weather. It's a little bit tricky.

I'm not sure how much rugby both these teams have played in these conditions but it does take a little bit of adjusting.

Both sets of backs exchange kicks as we still wait for any real pattern to the game.

Karl Dickson has spotted another Tigers hand in the wrong place, Olly Cracknell this time, allowing Finn Russell to kick from halfway to the corner.

A knock-on 12 metres from the line allows the Tigers to breathe again.

We knew it was going to be cagey early on and it certainly has been over the past few minutes.

Leicester with that one opportunity which they executed fantastically and now Bath are back in the game with a penalty.

Better from Bath who barge the Tigers back into their own half and win a penalty 25 metres or so out after an infringement on the deck.

Finn Russell territory... they ultimately decide, and he sends it inside the right upright to narrow the gap.

  15. 'Bath not at the races'published at 15:10 British Summer Time 14 June

    Bath 0-7 Leicester

Far too easy that for Leicester Tigers. Bath are not at the races.

But what I will say is that they've done that a few times this season, started slow, not lost any composure. They've come back so I very much doubt they are rattled.

But you can't lose a scrum, that's far too easy from Bath. You can't allow Leicester to play the game like that because they've been so good at doing that this year.

    Bath 0-7 Leicester

    Tom Varndell

If you are going to beat Bath on cup final day then that is the start that you need.

It's been such a composed start from Tigers. They've taken their opportunities and have not been rushed into anything.

And Handre Pollard has brought his kicking boots.

    A brilliant start.

The Tigers are roared on as they win the lineout and drive over the line... they have the lead. Brute force. Just like the old days.

Jack van Poortvliet picks up at the breakdown just a metre or so from the line and dives over the whitewash to take the roof off half of Twickenham.

Handre Pollard adds the extras from right of centre and the Tigers are 7-0 to the good.

    Bath 0-0 Leicester

Leicester manage to nick the ball back after a box kick with Jack van Poortvliet and just for a moment the Tigers look like they can work some space on the left flank, only for Freddie Steward's pass to sail out of play.

Play is brought back for a Leicester scrum on halfway after an earlier knock-on.

The Tigers, the White Tigers today, take advantage of an infringement as Handre Pollard kicks a penalty to the five-metre line.

So nervous, everyone has hyped Bath to be the unstoppable force, but this Leicester team scare me - the names on display today are frightening from both teams, and in this sunshine it will be one hell of a game! I can’t wait!

How fitting that Dan Cole and Ben Youngs bow out together at Welford Road South.
