Former England and Leicester wing on BBC Radio Leicester

It was a really interesting first half. It's been all about the kicking game and putting that pressure on the opposition.

It's been very, very stop start and I think that's played into Tigers' hands a little bit. You don't want Bath to have that free-flowing game and have loads of opportunities. They've looked dangerous with ball in hand but the Tigers defence has been strong.

They are still in this game and they haven't done a lot of attacking rugby at the moment. It's still anybody's game and six points is nothing.

Whatever pattern that Bath were trying to implement in the game, Leicester were defending it really well and Bath weren't getting too much change.

There was one occasion where they went through loads of phases and Bath went pretty much to the half way line but still had the ball. Leicester were all over of them

And then all of a sudden, Bath realised that if they just got a little bit wider and made any kind of inroad, the place to go was over that ruck. That pick and go or that snipe round the edges. You might not get through to score a big try but you are going to make a dent.

That's where Bath all season have been ruthless, when they get loads of momentum and that's where they've found their momentum in the game.

Bath really have to win this just because it would be completely asinine for a team to win the league by 11 points and not be champions. How is this stupid system still popular?

Bring a referee on at scrum time who was a forward, Sir has got that scrum penalty completely wrong. Probably balances out a few calls and though.

  4. 'A cagey affair so far'published at 16:03 British Summer Time 14 June

    HT: Bath 13-7 Leicester

    Martin Haag
Ex-Bath forward on BBC Radio Bristol

That was an important kick from Finn Russell, it just opens up that gap.

It's been a cagey affair so far and I do think it's going to carry on being cagey but I do think that Bath have probably had the best of past 30 minutes and Leicester have been hanging in there, scraping their way to a penalty or a turnover.

If Bath can sort out their passing in the second half and sort out the breakdown a little bit more then the floodgates may open but who knows? It's a final and it's been a top one so far.

  5. Bath 'are going to get better'published at 16:01 British Summer Time 14 June

    HT: Bath 13-7 Leicester

    Chris Ashton

Bath have made nearly 10 handling errors. They are not going to do that second-half.

The fear is they are going to get better when they bring the bench and when do they do actually start to click because their backline looks so dangerous. They are going to break at some point.

Like I mentioned in the first half, there's a lot of walking from the Leicester lads who look like they are struggling already.

Leicester Tigers sprint off the field after the penalty to seek shade, hydration and to pick apart that half.

The Tigers made a blistering start and Jack van Poortvliet plunged over to register the opening try, but they have been on the back foot for the majority of the half, with Bath's poor handling and sometimes decision making, and perhaps officiating, contributing to them only having two Finn Russell penalties in addition to Thomas Du Toit's close-range finish after Bath spread the attack from left to right.

Bath were not the side we saw all season, but they still lead by six at the halfway point.

Julian Montoya emerges from the shadows at the side of the pitch. He'll be shocked at the condition the rest of his pack are in. They are out on their feet already.

Credit to the Tigers defence for holding firm and denying Bath any points during the sin-bin period.

Finn Russell is lining up a penalty from two metres inside the Tigers half to try to end the half on a high...

... and succeeds. Huge kick, a metre or so over the crossbar.

    That'll be half-time.

After being second-best in the scrum early on, Bath have turned the tide in this first half.

Finn Russell kicks them back into the Tigers half and there's time for another series before Julian Montoya's return, and half-time...

Matt Dawson saying conditions are tricky? (15:17) Sun out, hard pitch? Play in a gale and driving rain in minus 2 degrees v Newcastle - that is tricky.

    Bath 10-7 Leicester

Miles Reid is having a brilliant first half for Bath. His carrying...

He's been so physical and so powerful for the base of that scrum.

    Bath 10-7 Leicester

    Matt Dawson
Former England scrum-half on BBC Radio 5 Live

Bath are making so many handling errors.

They are passing to each other like they've never made a move, the passes straight to the floor.

Handre Pollard just capitalising on it. Great kick to the corner, really turning it around and creating an opportunity.

    Bath 10-7 Leicester

Handre Pollard so nearly rewound the clock seven days with a cross-field kick into space ahead of the flying Adam Radwan.

Will Muir gets to the bouncing ball first but tries to avoid taking it into touch and only succeeds in slinging it back into the field where the Tigers recover.

So many sloppy plays from Bath today. Johann van Graan might need more than 15 minutes at half-time.

  13. Postpublished at 34 mins

    Bath 10-7 Leicester

Bath are cranking it up. They opt against a kick for goal and have a little huddle, roared on by their fans, after Finn Russell kicks within four metres of the line.

They manage to win the lineout and barge over the line, but they are held up over the line by Adam Radwan - he can do it at both ends.

Much more like the old Bath with some slick hands and Leicester are clinging on under their posts.

Miles Reid, Will Muir, Beno Obano are all repelled in the melee, there's a Tigers hand in there, illegally, too, as the ball squirts loose.

In the end Karl Dickson opts to penalise Quinn Roux for a knock-on as he picked up and tried to dive over from a yard out. Controversial that, but Tigers fans won't mind.

Their side win the scrum and clear to halfway.

Julian Montoya is shown a yellow cardImage source, PA Media

Julian Montoya might be in trouble here... the TMO has a look at his tackle on Bath's Ted Hill... he was the second player into the tackle and bashed heads with Hill.

Because he was the second Tiger there and Hill was moving under contact from the first it will only be a yellow for a high tackle.

Unlike last season, there's no first-half red card.

10 minutes for Montoya to take on some fluids in the shade at least.... can Bath take advantage before half-time?

  18. 'More direct from Bath'published at 15:34 British Summer Time 14 June

    Bath 10-7 Leicester

    Martin Haag
Ex-Bath forward on BBC Radio Bristol

That was a little bit more direct. Maybe that's where we are starting to see a few tweaks in this Leicester defence - not being able to cope physically with how Bath are starting to get on top.

It's still a tight affair but you just get the feeling that Bath are just starting to get on top now. They are getting more territory and they are being able to keep the ball just that little bit more.
