That is tough luck for Stuart Bingham. He needed four snookers and needed just one when he inadvertently drilled the pink into the bottom left corner.

That was a fluke he did not want.

    Hey Siri/Alexa etc. Define relief.

Stuart Bingham can't believe it. He accidentally pots the pink and it's four in a row for the Welshman.

Jak Jones puffs out his cheeks and chuckles to himself after he takes that mammoth 55-minute frame for a three-frame lead.

Stuart came to the table 35 minutes ago needing four snookers and somehow he's got himself into this position where he needs one snooker to win the frame.

This frame has been going on for more than three quarters of an hour.

Players are entitled to do this but we run the risk of not completing the session and that adds frames to this evening session.

Then you start talking about does the winner of the other semi-final have an advantage in the final because they are not playing late into the night.

We are on the pink now so Stuart Bingham needs just one snooker to win.

Jonny Harding: @Magician147, external respect your opinion, but people want to see these tactical battles as much as big breaks.

I know purists who love the sport, love this type of tactical battle but I'm not sure how entertaining this is.

There is a lot of skill on show but you have to really play the game to a high level to appreciate it.

It's half an hour since Jak Jones finished his break of 63.

The longer it goes on the stickier it gets. I bet Jak wishes he could go back and roll that pink in.

Stuart will be practising these types of scenarios every day. He will enjoy this.

That was different. And a sure sign the frame is really dragging on.

Referee Marcel Eckardt has all the power. As the man in charge he had to give the all-clear for the players to visit the gents.

"When you have to go you have to go," Eckardt said.

I suppose he couldn't really say no could he?

The players are back out. As you were.

What's the answer to situations like this?

Should there be a time limit to playing on for multiple snookers? A maximum number of shots? Or you can't play on when more than three are needed? Let us know what you think via #bbcsnooker

Stuart Bingham has one more snooker. Two more needed.

But it's toilet break time before we see how this pans out. Stuart Bingham asked permission to leave the arena mid frame.

Both he and Jak Jones exit.

VoiceOfTheMysterons: Yes, it's the World Championship and yes, Bingham's desperate not to fall further behind, but going after four snookers when you're already 50-odd points behind seems a bit excessive.

Not everyone is happy with Bingham's commendable refusal to give up on frame 21.

  12. Bingham hanging onpublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 4 May

    Bingham 9-11 Jones

Jak Jones misses a relatively simple red to the corner pocket which would have ended the tension.

Stuart Bingham has no choice but to take the red and a colour but he's made a pig's ear of his attempted snooker.

  13. Connect four?published at 12:31 British Summer Time 4 May

    Bingham 9-11 Jones

Jak Jones is on the verge of a three-frame lead.

Stuart Bingham has got one snooker but needs three more four-point snookers to take the frame and stop Jones winning four in a row.

It's been more than 10 minutes since the last ball was potted.

  14. Has Jones caught Bingham by surprise?published at 12:24 British Summer Time 4 May

    Bingham 9-11 Jones

    Rob Walker
    BBC commentator

Stuart Bingham will be aware that on paper he'll never have a better opportunity to reach a World Championship final and he has probably been surprised at how well Jak Jones is handling the enormity of the match.

  15. Postpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 4 May

    Bingham 9-11 Jones

Jak Jones misses a red but his lead is 56 with only 43 on the table.

Bingham isn't giving in yet though.

  16. Sloppypublished at 12:18 British Summer Time 4 May

    Bingham 9-11 Jones

Stuart Bingham needed a good start but that's so so sloppy. He's short on a pink to the middle.

Jak Jones is in and the reds are fanned out so well even a pub player would fancy making 30.

I'd have made at least eight from this.

Jones is rapidly into his 40s.

Class is permanent and all that. A two-frame deficit is nothing for a man of Stuart Bingham's calibre.

But he needs to raise his game quickly.

    Play resumes. Four to play.

  18. 'Extraordinary composure'published at 12:07 British Summer Time 4 May

    Bingham 9-11 Jones

    Rob Walker
    BBC commentator

When Jak Jones does make an occasional mistake it does not linger with him. There is no mental hangover from previous misses when he comes back to the table. In many ways it is reminiscent of John Higgins at his best.

His personality is tailor-made for this area. He is an even-tempered guy, so you don't get the wild sparks of joy or the lows and that is serving him well in this match.

The level of composure he is showing is extraordinary for the amount of experience he has.

  19. Waiting for a worldiepublished at 12:04 British Summer Time 4 May

    Bingham 9-11 Jones

Jak Jones has never won a ranking event.

The World Championship would be a decent place to get the first one under your belt.

It's only the second time the Welshman has played at the Crucible.
