It might sound a ridiculous thing to say about a five-time Grand Slam champion, but there are still moments when Carlos Alcaraz's concentration goes walkabout.

Luckily the shot-making Spaniard has enough natural talent to make sure he still gets over the line.

We saw that in his opening tussle against Italian veteran Fabio Fognini, where his serve was scratchy and the groundstrokes were uncharacteristically loose.

That allowed 38-year-old Fognini to take him to five sets before Alcaraz pulled through.

Tarvet will be hoping to see the same from the opposite side of the net today.

Nuno Borges gets an early break in the second set.

Borges' shot hits the top of the net and just bounces over which is rather unfortunate for Billy Harris.

Borges apologises as he strides towards his chair at the change of ends.

    Tarvet v Alcaraz

    Jonathan Jurejko
BBC Sport senior tennis reporter at Wimbledon

If Carlos Alcaraz had lost to Italian veteran Fabio Fognini in his opening Wimbledon match, it would have been the shock of the season.

If the two-time defending champion loses to British qualifier Ollie Tarvet in his second-round match, it will be the biggest shock in SW19 history.

Tarvet, a 21-year-old Englishman who plays in the United States college system, is ranked 733rd in the world and playing in his first Grand Slam tournament.

Spain's Alcaraz is only a year older but has already won five major titles and is a superstar of the sport.

Oh, and he's on a 19-match winning streak.

Top seed Aryna Sabalenka, speaking after her straight sets win over Marie Bouzkova: "We've played a lot of close matches so I'm pleased to be through this difficult round.

"That was a tough moment of the match [going a break down late in the first set]. I was just trying to put the ball back on that side and hope I could break back. Until that point, my serve wasn't good enough to break.

"But I was able to break and I felt a little bit better at that moment, which is why I think I was able to win the tie-break and win in straight sets.

On seeds falling in first round: "Honestly, it's very sad to see so many top players lose in the first round. But you've got to focus on yourself.

"Of course, you're going to know the overall picture but you have to take it one step at a time. I hope it is no upsets anymore in this tournament, if you know what I mean!"

There was a huge grin on the face of Dan Evans after he volleyed in the opening point of the match.

    He’s here to enjoy this.

The 35-year-old celebrated his first Wimbledon win in four years yesterday, as he beat compatriot Jay Clarke to reach the second round.

He’s been offering teenager Henry Searle plenty of pointers so far as they look to stun the champions.

Aryna Sabalenka is safely through to the third round.

There is still time for a couple more demonstrations of her remarkable power before she comes forward and calmly puts a forehand beyond Marie Bouzkova into the corner to seal the win.

It's just the third time Sabalenka has reached the third round at Wimbledon and she was given a bit of a scare in the first set by the impressive Bouzkova.

But she broke to force a tie-break, won that and never looked back.

Sabalenka wants to get this done.

She's been up out of her seat before the umpire has called "time" at all of the changes of ends in this set.

She's ramped up the aggression and wants this one over with.

  19. Sabalenka to serve for the matchpublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 2 July

The end might be nigh for Marie Bouzkova but she's not just going to hand the match to Aryna Sabalenka.

The world number one is going to have to serve this one out.
