A very competitive first set goes the way of defending men’s doubles champions Henry Patten and Harri Heliovaara, but British double act Dan Evans and Henry Searle pushed them all the way.

Evans and Searle have settled quickly into their entertaining master-and-apprentice style relationship, but the second seeds raised their level when it mattered there.

Beautiful, tip-top hold from Norrie. On his second serve the Briton forces Tiafoe wide and then backhands into the opposite corner.

Norrie hits another ace but then Tiafoe whacks a crisp passing winner. 40-30.

Two strong Norrie serves. 30-15.

The 2024 champions prevail in the tie-break as Henry Searle is unable to return a booming forehand from Henry Patten.

Brits Dan Evans and Searle pushed their opponents all the way in a close first set but they have nothing to show for it as both sets of players take a seat and regroup.

Well where did that come from?

Some people close to me had started discussing their plans for after this match, thinking that Cameron Norrie was not far off victory after getting the break but moments later and it is very much advantage Frances Tiafoe.

Best settle in as we could be here a while longer yet.

Huge game this and Cam starts it on the backfoot with a wide backhand chip. 0-15.

Tiafoe is now the one in control of this set. The pressure swings on to Cam Norrie after the American holds to 30.

Norrie will serve to stay in the set.

What looked like a simple hold turned into a difficult one for Carlos Alcaraz.

Ollie Tarvet, having been 40-0 down, takes it to deuce but the Brit hits a couple of sloppy returns to let the Spaniard off the hook.

He may not be on the board yet, but Tarvet is playing really well.

A throaty 'Vamos!' indicated how hard Carlos Alcaraz had to hang onto his serve in the opening game.

But he wasn't too discouraged by fluffing first serves and forehands.

The jackhammer is quickly out and chiselling marks in the Centre Court grass.

Ollie Tarvet has seen Alcaraz's pace on the telly, now he's feeling it on his racquet.

Cristina Bucsa has booked her spot in the third round after beating 22nd seed Donna Vekic 6-1 6-3.

Vekic reached the semi-finals last year while Bucsa has never made it past the second round.

The crowd on court four have been treated to a great match so far and there will be a tie-break to decide the first set after Brit Dan Evans thumps a looping forehand long.
