Off we go on Centre and Raducanu takes the first point after Vondrousova slices long.

It's a proper evening match at Wimbledon. Half the court is in sunlight, half is in shadow. Looks great.

    Boulter 7-6 (9-7) 2-6 1-4 Sierra*

Cheers from the fans on Court One as Katie Boulter, seemingly down and out, opens up and finds a couple of winners.

A straightforward hold for the Brit - and I've not said that too many times this afternoon.

Emma Raducanu and Marketa Vondrousova have both experienced stunning highs and difficult lows during their careers.

They are among the unlikeliest Grand Slam champions in history, with Raducanu winning the 2021 US Open as a qualifier, and Vondrousova becoming the first unseeded player to win the women's singles title here two years ago.

But they have both endured more than their fair share of injury issues over recent years, and both are to an extent still on the comeback trail.

They receive a warm welcome out on to Centre Court. Who knows, this could be the match which propels one of them to another memorable fortnight.

  5. Sierra holdspublished at 18:22 British Summer Time 2 July

    *Boulter 7-6 (9-7) 2-6 0-4 Sierra

Solana Sierra is making all the running on Court One.

She is taking the game to Katie Boulter, who seems to have no response at this point.

Boulter had great success coming to the net as she beat ninth seed Paula Badosa in the last round. She's not played a single shot from inside the baseline so far in this third set.

    Raducanu v Vondrousova

Emma Raducanu and Marketa Vondrousova march on to Centre Court.

In round one Emma Raducanu swiftly wrapped up a 6-3 6-3 win against 17-year-old compatriot Mimi Xu, who was making her maiden Grand Slam appearance.

Vondrousova beat McCartney Kessler in two sets in the first round. She's in fine form on grass having won this year's Berline Open.

Raducanu reached the fourth round of Wimbledon last year, her best run since her debut in 2021.

Katie Boulter rose to the occassion to knock out a top 10 player in the first round. She was the underdog then but very much the favourite here, has that change in expectation played a part in this performance? She's going to have to put up a big fight now to avoid a second-round exit.

Jasmine Paolini is a popular character around Wimbledon.

‘Let’s go Jasmine let’s go’ is the chant started by a section of court 3 as Kamilla Rakhimova breaks back and the Italian needs a bit of encouragement.

Fourth seed and last year's Wimbledon finalist Jasmine Paolini is close to winning the first against Kamilla Rakhimova over on Court Three.

Elsewhere, Naomi Osaka took the first set 6-3 against Czech Katerina Siniakova.

Diana Shnaider, who is 12th seed, could be the next seeded player to exit after losing the first set 4-6 to Diane Parry.

  10. Sierra breaks againpublished at 18:18 British Summer Time 2 July

    Boulter 7-6 (9-7) 2-6 0-3 Sierra*

This match looks like it might end in a hurry with Katie Boulter's serve having completely deserted her.

Yet another double fault gives Solana Sierra a double break in this third set.

A combination of 13 double faults and 33 unforced errors means Boulter needs something special if she is to progress to the third round.

    .

There’s celebrity support here on Court One with Nick Jonas of Jonas Brothers fame and that prompted a few excited fans to shout his name to check it definitely was him.

Funnily enough I was listening to Waffle House last night. I’m sure he’d be delighted to know that.

    *Boulter 7-6 (9-7) 2-6 0-2 Sierra

It's a despondent crowd on Court One throughout Solana Sierra's latest service game.

Katie Boulter is the beneficiary of a double fault this time but even at 15-30, there was never any concern from Sierra.

She knuckles down and swiftly turns it around to win the game.

Carlos Alcaraz, speaking after he booked his spot in the third round: "First of all I have to give a big congratulations to Oliver, it’s his second match on the tour, I just loved his game to be honest, the level he played in the first match on centre court which I know is very difficult.

"He had great tennis and I knew at the beginning that I had to be really focused and play my best tennis. I was really happy with my performance today."

On the home crowd support for his British opponent Oliver Tarvet: "I’m really grateful for the support I am receiving here after every match, every day and every practice, it’s unbelievable to be honest.

"Playing against someone from here and playing at home is not easy but they were really respectful to me, to the match and to the umpire as well. I love playing in this court and I enjoy it so much."

On it being the 20th consecutive tour win: "I found the right way I guess, I’m trying to enjoy after every match when I step on the court I’m just trying to enjoy, it doesn’t matter if I’m winning or losing.

"I think that was the key since the last two or three months, having a great consecutive winning streak. I’m just trying to keep it going and keep enjoying, playing in this tournament and this court, just trying to keep going forward is a gift so I’m making the most of my time here."

  15. Sierra breaks to start third setpublished at 18:11 British Summer Time 2 July

    Boulter 7-6 (9-7) 2-6 0-1 Sierra*

Words of encouragement from the box as Katie Boulter walks out to serve at the start of this third set... but it makes little difference.

The serve just isn't there for Boulter. Another double fault comes and an increasingly confidence Solana Sierra drills a winner into the corner to break to love.

I was down here at court three on Monday when Sonay Kartal opened proceedings and my goodness it was hot. Uncomfortable, sticky, get me out of here hot.

Today conditions are much more pleasant.

It’s still turned into a warm evening after the rain this morning but it’s much more bearable with most people able to just enjoy a bit of sun without worrying about turning into a puddle.

Last year’s runner-up here Jasmine Paolini is off to a strong start against Kamilla Rakhimova with a 4-1 lead in set one.

Near silence on Court One as Solana Sierra eases her way through her latest service game.

She holds to love and to take a second set in which she has been dominant.

Katie Boulter did brilliantly to fightback in the first set but could do nothing to deny the Argentine in the second. What has the Brit got left for this deciding third set?

Solana Sierra is determined to take the attack to Katie Boulter - and it's working for her.

She break to love in a game that sees another double fault for Boulter.

There is no doubt that those serving problems have affected the rest of British number two's game today.

Kartal holds to love on her service game with a backhand at the net from Burrage sealing the second set.
