    Kartal 0-0 Andreeva*

Sonay Kartal's in a black top, black shorts, black shoes and black socks. She's got on a white cap and poking out the back is a very bright bleach blonde ponytail.

Kartal looks like she means business and takes the first point on Erika Andreeva's serve with some strong shots from the baseline.

    McDonald 3-6 0-1 Djokovic*

A terrible start to this second set for Mackenzie McDonald.

He had that point in the bag with Novak Djokovic stranded at the net, but he flings the forehand wide.

The roof is almost closed but there's two pigeons still in the stadium. They've only got a minute or two to make their escape.

Or maybe they want to stay to watch a 24-time Grand Slam champion in action.

Novak Djokovic has got three early break points.

  4. Brit Kartal about to get under waypublished at 15:06 British Summer Time 27 May

    Kartal vs Andreeva

British number three Sonay Kartal is up next, making her French Open debut.

This time last year the 23-year-old was ranked number 252 in the world. Now she's up world number 56.

She's up against Russian Erika Andreeva who has never made it to the second round at Roland Garros before.

And he gets it this time. Mackenzie McDonald can only swat the Serb's swerve wide.

Novak Djokovic takes the opener after 46 minutes, although I'd say 10 minutes of that was spent talking to the umpire about the weather and if the roof would be closing.

Novak Djokovic is thrown off balance as he miscues a return, but two winners open up a 40-15 lead for the sixth seed.

    He's got two set points.

  9. Pegula takes first setpublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 27 May

    *Todoni 2-6 1-1 Pegula

American third seed Jessica Pegula has taken the first set of her first-round match against Anca Todoni of Romania on Court Suzanne Lenglen.

It's on serve in the second set.

Great Britain's Jack Draper will be in action on that court once that match has concluded.

And a decision has been made. Finally. The roof is closing.

There are more questions being asked by Mackenzie McDonald about the roof and whether it's going to be closed.

To be fair, it does look pretty windy out there. And McDonald already has Novak Djokovic to contend with - never mind the wind!

  12. McDonald holdspublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 27 May

Novak Djokovic swipes the ball around the net post before sending a drop shot across court. It's call out but it's right under the umpire's nose and he decides to overturn the decision.

Mackenzie McDonald wasn't so sure, but he gets through his service game unharmed.

  13. 'I go on court and realise I have no racquets'published at 14:51 British Summer Time 27 May

Here's what Coco Gauff had to say after her first-round win: "I played as good as I could with the conditions. It was really windy, I'm from Florida so I am used to the wind and I knew it wasn't going to be a clean match.

"It was tough on the return and serve trying to time the ball but I'm really happy with how I played and happy to be through to the next round. It's two different matches depending what side of the court you are on."

On not having any racquets when she arrived on court: "The culprit is not in the box because he knows the racquets are supposed to be in my bag. As long as I have been on the Tour my coach has always put the racquets in my bag because he is very superstitiious so he likes to grip each racquet new each day. I don't care, I can play with a dirty grip.

"So I go on the court and I realise I have no racquets. I made fun of Frances [Tiafoe] for it in Madrid but now I'll be quiet. I am blaming it on my coach."

On the legacy Rafael Nadal has left at Roland Garros: "He has so much resilience and he was my favourite player to watch practice. I would just watch him practice rally because it was so intense. I try to do the same but he is obviously the GOAT on clay.

"The legacy he has left, not only at Roland Garros, but all over the sport is insane. I am just glad I was able to play a little bit on tour at the same time as him."

What a point! Novak Djokovic has got a massive smile on his face after a series of quick drop shots and cross-court hits at the net, with Mackenzie McDonald ending it by going wide.

The American lofts a forehand long to give the hold to Djokovic.

Another delay. This time it's Mackenzie McDonald who isn't too happy with the conditions.

He thought the roof was going to be closed.

The American speaks to the umpire before returning to the baseline to receive Novak Djokovic's serve.
