  1. 'Navarro's serve makes her more vulnerable'published at 17:17 British Summer Time 1 July

    Jeff Tarango
Former American tennis player on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

I have noticed that she has changed her serve in the last few games but I don't think it is the right serve for this surface. It kicks up more and makes her more vulnerable.

I would like to see her with more of a slice or flatter serve but maybe she doesn't have the height for it. If she hasn't been doing it very long, I am not sure if she can keep it up physically for the entire fortnight.

  2. 'Too many Kvitova errors'published at 17:17 British Summer Time 1 July

    *Kvitova 3-6 1-3 Navarro

    Martina Navratilova
Nine-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC One

Emma Navarro really cleaned it up after the first few service games.

Petra Kvitova's serve is not working today, too many unforced errors.

  3. Starodubtseva breakspublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 1 July

    *Starodubtseva 1-6 6-3 4-1 Jones

    Beautiful stuff from Yuliia Starodubtseva.

The world number 68 comes up with a cross-court winner.

  4. Rinderknech holdspublished at 17:15 British Summer Time 1 July

    *Zverev 6-7 (3-7) 7-6 (10-8) 3-6 1-2 Rinderknech

As this match ticks past the three-hour mark, Arthur Rinderknech fights back from 0-30 down to hold serve.

There are still two more matches scheduled on Centre Court today, with Novak Djokovic and Coco Gauff set to be in first-round action. Might be another late one...

    Starodubtseva 1-6 6-3 3-1 Jones*

    Ah.

This isn't looking good for Francesca Jones now.

The Briton is looking to avoid going a double break down.

  6. Navarro holdspublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 1 July

    *Kvitova 3-6 1-3 Navarro

Emma Navarro makes light work of her second service game in this second set, allowing Petra Kvitova the single point before restoring her break lead.

  7. Starodubtseva holdspublished at 17:11 British Summer Time 1 July

    Starodubtseva 1-6 6-3 3-1 Jones*

At the end of a 20-shot rally - the longest of the match - Yuliia Starodubtseva still finds enough energy to dig out a lob for 30-15.

The Ukrainian presses forward and consolidates that break with a hold.

  8. Kvitova holdspublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 1 July

    Kvitova 3-6 1-2 Navarro*

Well, that was like rolling back the years wasn't it?

Petra Kvitova fist pumps towards her box after denying Emma Navarro another break point.

The Czech hits a brilliant backhand winner down the line to get on the board in the second set.

  9. Careful tennis from Zverevpublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 1 July

    Zverev 6-7 (3-7) 7-6 (10-8) 3-6 1-1 Rinderknech*

    Mark Woodforde
17-time Grand Slam doubles champion on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra and BBC Sounds

It is very much the same Zverev as last night - he has just been waiting for Rinderknech to either win the points or lose the points.

It is 'careful tennis' from Zverev.

  10. Zverev holdspublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 1 July

    Zverev 6-7 (3-7) 7-6 (10-8) 3-6 1-1 Rinderknech*

A double fault, then an ace. Another break point saved by Alexander Zverev, who then wraps up the game to level the fourth set.

How crucial could those past five minutes be in the context of this match?

  11. Starodubtseva breakspublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 1 July

    *Starodubtseva 1-6 6-3 2-1 Jones

Francesca Jones comes through the first.

But Jones can't get around Yuliia Starodubtseva's forehand for the second and the break is sealed.

Jones is up against it now.

  12. Zverev saves break pointspublished at 17:06 British Summer Time 1 July

    *Zverev 6-7 (3-7) 7-6 (10-8) 3-6 0-1 Rinderknech

Big moments for Alexander Zverev, who saves two break points in his first service game of the fourth set.

    Deuce.

  13. Navarro holdspublished at 17:05 British Summer Time 1 July

    *Kvitova 3-6 0-2 Navarro

Emma Navarro shows good hands at the net after a fun rally to go 40-0 up, before serving out to hold.

This is very quickly slipping away for Petra Kvitova.

  14. Break points Starodubtsevapublished at 17:05 British Summer Time 1 July

    Starodubtseva 1-6 6-3 1-1 Jones*

A 25th unforced error for Francesca Jones hands Yuliia Starodubtseva two break points.

  15. Kvitova having trouble with her racquet stringspublished at 17:05 British Summer Time 1 July

Kvitova is walking on a tightrope. She has loosened her strings so she gets more power - but after the first few games, the ball is going the same trajectory but is now going three or four feet long.

This makes me believe the string wasn't pre-stretched enough and she has lost that tension. She is spraying balls, whereas at the start she was perfect.

  16. Zverev the next seed to fall?published at 17:04 British Summer Time 1 July

    Harry Poole
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Lorenzo Musetti. Holger Rune. Daniil Medvedev.

Three of the top-10 seeds in the men's draw have already had to pack their bags. Are we about to see a fourth?

Third seed Alexander Zverev will hope not but, with the way the first two days have gone, you wouldn't be too surprised.

It wouldn't be a major shock in the context of Zverev's history at Wimbledon, either. The German has lost to players ranked as low as world number 72 Arthur Rinderknech on three previous occasions - Denis Kudla (105) in 2015, Ernests Gulbis (138) in 2018 and Jiri Vesely (124) in 2019.

  17. A blast from the pastpublished at 17:04 British Summer Time 1 July

    Kvitova 3-6 0-1 Navarro

    Sonia Oxley
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

When Kvitova nails that blistering forehand, it is a reminder of just how good it was in its heyday. A real murmur of appreciation around Court One for the latest one. The crowd need to savour them now as they may not see many more here now as Navarro looks firmly in control.

  18. Starodubtseva holdspublished at 17:03 British Summer Time 1 July

    Starodubtseva 1-6 6-3 1-1 Jones*

Yuliia Starodubtseva is immediately on the backfoot and trailing 15-0 on serve, but the Ukrainian doesn't panic.

A run of four successive points takes her to the hold.

  19. Navarro breakspublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 1 July

    Kvitova 3-6 0-1 Navarro*

More of the same in the opening game of the second set as Emma Navarro breaks at the first time of asking.

Petra Kvitova just isn't engaging in rallies and is too often looking to hit a winner when the opportunity isn't there.

That's six games in a row now for the American.

  20. Evans delivers Tuesday joy for the Britspublished at 17:01 British Summer Time 1 July

    Gary Rose
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Dan Evans becomes the eighth British player to go through and some much-needed success from a home player after a number of exits so far today.

Heather Watson, Jodie Burrage, Johannus Monday and George Loffhagen have all seen their tournaments come to an end today.

The most Brits to have gone through to round two this century is 10, which happened in 2022, so that could still be equalled or maybe even surpassed, with Francesca Jones, Jack Pinnington Jones and British men's number one Jack Draper still in the mix at the moment.
