    Evans 6-1 1-1 Clarke*

Dan Evans slaps his racquet off his knee getting his positioning wrong and falling 30-15 behind.

He goes a step further and hits his forehead with the racquet when trailing 40-30.

A double fault takes it to deuce.

The defending champion is back in business.

It was quite some turnaround, Barbora Krejcikova was returning far better and you can see the difference that made in terms of Alexandra Eala not being able to win even half of points behind her first serve and barely a third behind her second.

That was where that second set was won and lost.

  4. Evans holdspublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 1 July

    Evans 6-1 1-1 Clarke*

Dan Evans is yet to defend a break point - can Jay Clarke finally start to put a bit of pressure on his compatriot?

    Not this time round.

Evans gets a hold to 15.

  5. Could you return a professional tennis player's serve?published at 15:10 British Summer Time 1 July

Fortunately, BBC Sport's Sam Harris didn't line up against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard when seeing how difficult it is to return a professional tennis player's serve.

Sam was still up against serves of over 100mph from world number eight Holger Rune... take a look at how he got on.

  6. Martinez and Loffhagen holdpublished at 15:10 British Summer Time 1 July

    *Martinez 2-6 6-2 2-3 Loffhagen

Things are still locked with serve in this third set on court 16.

Pedro Martinez holds his service game at 40-15, yet again dictating play from the back of the court.

George Loffhagen also holds his service game at 40-15, adding three more inch-perfect forehand winners to his tally for this afternoon along the way.

  7. Perricard's moment of historypublished at 15:10 British Summer Time 1 July

Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard's record-breaking 153mph serve hardly came out of the blue.

The Frenchman was quickly into his groove in his first service game yesterday, hitting serves of 148mph and 149mph before his record-breaker.

    *Krejcikova 3-6 6-2 0-0 Eala

Alexandra Eala saves a couple more set points on her own serve but Barbora Krejcikova eventually gets the job done and we're all square on Centre Court.

    Evans 6-1 0-0 Clarke*

Jay Clarke hangs on a little longer as Dan Evans puts a forehand into the net for deuce.

Evans gets back on top and has another set point.

And that's the job done in 26 minutes.

  11. Eala breakspublished at 15:02 British Summer Time 1 July

    Krejcikova 3-6 5-2 Eala*

Alexandra Eala seems to have regained a bit of the rhythm that deserted her at the start of the second set and she secures a break of serve.

At the moment it's just a case of prolonging the inevitable, you'd think...

  12. Record-breaking Mpetshi Perricardpublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 1 July

Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard is on Court One next to complete his match against Taylor Fritz after it went to a fifth set and fell foul of the Wimbledon curfew last night.

The 21-year-old Frenchman might well have needed a break and a chance to rest his right arm after recording the fastest ever serve in Wimbledon history at 153mph.

  13. 'Sinner was just brilliant'published at 15:01 British Summer Time 1 July

    Sinner 6-4 6-3 6-0 Nardi

    John Lloyd
Former GB Davis Cup captain on BBC TV

It was a really good performance from Jannik Sinner.

Decent competition in the first set but after that he started playing better.

Sinner was just brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

Luca Nardi tried everything he could but he just didn't have the weapons.

When Sinner is on, it's impossible to play against him.

  14. Set point Evanspublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 1 July

    *Evans 5-1 Clarke

Jay Clarke attempts a lob but it's long and Dan Evans needs just a point to get over the line in the opening set.

  15. Loffhagen holdspublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 1 July

    *Martinez 2-6 6-2 1-2 Loffhagen

George Loffhagen edges in front for the first time in this third set.

The British wildcard opens up a 40-15 advantage and hits an absolute worldie of an ace to comfortably hold his service game.

    Pressure? What pressure?

  16. Evans breakspublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 1 July

    *Evans 5-1 Clarke

Dan Evans picks up another break of serve to close on taking the opening set.

  17. Postpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 1 July

    *Krejcikova 3-6 5-1 Eala

    Anne Keothavong
Former British number one on BBC TV

Despite Alexandra Eala not having a big serve, she makes up for it with good speed around the court, her anticipation and it's a general willingness to chase everything down.

  18. game, set and match

Game, set and match - Sinnerpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 1 July

    Sinner 6-4 6-3 6-0 Nardi

And that's that for Jannik Sinner.

The world number one breezes through to the second round with a straight-sets victory against Luca Nardi.

He lost just seven games there. Ominous stuff from the three-time Grand Slam winner.

  19. Eala holdspublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 1 July

    *Krejcikova 3-6 5-1 Eala

Alexandra Eala avoids the dreaded bagel in set two.

  20. Loffhagen breaks backpublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 1 July

    Martinez 2-6 6-2 1-1 Loffhagen*

    That's more like it!

George Loffhagen opens up a 15-40 lead to give himself two break back points - and he takes the opportunity at the first time of asking with a powerful backhand that Pedro Martinez just could not return.

The British wildcard is being very animated at the moment, but there is no doubt he is locked into this first-round encounter.
