Krejcikova holds her arms up as if to say 'what do I do?' as Eala brings up set point.

She's struggling somewhat behind her serve, hitting five double faults so far in the match.

    *Krejcikova 2-5 Eala

Barbora Krejcikova seems to be having a few problems with her ball toss. She aborts her motion a couple of times and throws in two more double faults during her latest service game - that's five altogether now for the defending champion.

The Czech player says a few words towards her box as Eala gets to set point in a marathon game, but it's superbly saved with a forehand winner.

A fifth deuce of the game.

    Anne Keothavong
Former British number one on BBC TV

Alexandra Eala really hit the headlines a few years ago when she won the US Open juniors in 2022. She reached number two in the junior world rankings.

We always look out for new talent and she was definitely a name to look out for.

She burst onto the scene on the professional tour this year where she received a wildcard into the main draw in Miami, that was back in March and she beat some former Grand Slam champions to reach the semi-finals there.

  6. Nardi holdspublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 1 July

    *Sinner 6-4 4-2 Nardi

    Wow.

That is some defence from Jannik Sinner. The world number one is stretching at the baseline but somehow does enough to squeeze it over the net and away for a winner to lead 30-15.

Luca Nardi battles his way back into proceedings and gets the hold.

  7. Martinez breakspublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 1 July

    *Martinez 2-6 2-1 Loffhagen

    Gary Rose
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Pedro Martinez is ranked 52nd in the world, so you'd expect him to turn on the style at some point and he does at the start of this second set, breaking GB's George Loffhagen in the opening game before holding.

Loffhagen doesn't hang about on his serve, rattling off the aces once more to hold, but he's a break down.

There was lots of laughter on Court One as a member of the crowd called out to Jannik Sinner before the world number one stepped up to serve.

An excited fan of his, or a tactical disruption by a Luca Nardi supporter? It doesn’t knock Sinner off his rhythm.

I can see a carrot costume over that side of the court, so maybe it was just the motivational message he needed…

I do not know how they’re managing to cope wearing that, by the way. They must be roasted.

  9. Sinner holdspublished at 14:14 British Summer Time 1 July

    Sinner 6-4 4-1 Nardi*

Jannik Sinner maintains his commanding position with a hold to 30.

  10. Early nerves from Sinnerpublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 1 July

    Naomi Broady
British player on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds

There is a similar energy in Sinner as we saw in Alcaraz yesterday - the first round [nerves].

The target is on his back - we expect him to not be human and not feel these emotions, but it is completely understandable to be nervy.

It took Alcaraz about four hours to settle in yesterday, hopefully Sinner can do it quicker.

    *Krejcikova 2-5 Eala

    Jess Anderson
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Fearless stuff from Alexandra Eala, who has already made history in her home country of the Philippines, becoming the first Filipina to reach a WTA Tour final at Eastbourne last week.

Now she's on the brink of taking the first set against the defending Wimbledon champion.

    On Centre Court no less.

    *Krejcikova 2-5 Eala

    Sam Smith
Former British number one on BBC TV

Barbora Krejcikova is still trying to find her range after so few tournaments and matches this season, this is her fifth event of the year.

  13. Eala holdspublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 1 July

    *Krejcikova 2-5 Eala

Barbora Krejcikova has a chance to break straight back but sends a forehand wide on break point.

Alexandra Eala recovers to win her fourth game in a row and she's now on the brink of winning the opening set.

  14. Strong start for GB's Loffhagenpublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 1 July

    Martinez 2-6 Loffhagen

    Gary Rose
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

It hasn't been going as hoped for British players so far today with two having played and two going out.

BUT George Loffhagen, another wildcard, is looking promising so far as he has just taken the first set against world number 52 Pedro Martínez of Spain.

Loffhagen hit five aces in a dominant first set he won 6-2.

The 24-year-old was also awarded a wildcard for Wimbledon back in 2023, when he lost to Holger Rune in the first round.

  15. 'Nardi has got to gamble'published at 14:11 British Summer Time 1 July

    *Sinner 6-4 3-1 Nardi

    John Lloyd
Former GB Davis Cup captain on BBC TV

Luca Nardi is down a set and a break. Now he has really got to start going out for his comfort zone and go for it.

Make sure he gets more first serves in. He has got to try and gamble somehow.

Jannik Sinner has got into a rhythm now but Nardi has nothing to lose.

  16. Nardi holdspublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 1 July

Luca Nardi gets on the board in the second set.

Jannik Sinner hits a couple of uncharacteristic wild attempts to let his opponent off the hook.

Barbora Krejcikova was broken in her last service game. I wonder how much service practice she's been able to do in the last few months given that she's been carrying this lower back injury.

She pulled out of the Australian Open and we thought we might see her back for Indian Wells and Miami, but she pulled out again.

It's been lingering and it's been a very frustrating time for her.

  18. Eala breaks againpublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 1 July

    Krejcikova 2-4 Eala*

A double fault and a couple of unforced errors mean Barbora Krejcikova is facing deuce on her own serve.

Alexandra Eala plonks a forehand winner down to the line to bring up break point, and Eala shows she's just as comfortable on the backhand side to secure a second break in a row.

  19. Sinner holdspublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 1 July

    Sinner 6-4 3-0 Nardi*

This is ominous stuff from Jannik Sinner.

He holds with ease, winning all four points in the third game.

That's 12 of the first 15 points that Sinner's won now in the second set.

  20. Carrots Boys support from afarpublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 1 July

    Harry Poole
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

There are plenty of orange caps on show among the Court One crowd, but I can't know for certain if that's a nod to Jannik Sinner's official fan club, the Carota Boys.

The Carota Boys, a group of childhood friends from Italy, have been attending as many tournaments as they can over recent years to support Sinner, dressed as carrots after the world number one once ate one during a match.

They are not here today, however. Instead, they're hosting a watch-a-long with former players and celebrities in Italy until the semi-finals - but they intend to fly over if Sinner makes the final.

They are in direct communication with him on WhatsApp, and you can be sure that they have sent him a good luck message this morning.
