“Come on Naomiiii” is the collective shout of encouragement on court two.

Naomi Osaka swung her racquet in frustration after conceding that break, which has now left her with a real fight on her hands.

She certainly has the strong backing of the crowd, but that might not be enough.

  9. Huge set for Osakapublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 4 July

    Harry Poole
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

There was a real air of anticipation around court two ahead of this deciding set.

Just three places separate these two in the rankings - and that is evident here in what’s become a real tussle for a place in the fourth round.

Naomi Osaka has not reached the fourth round at any major since she won the most recent of her four slams at the 2021 Australian Open, amid breaks away from tennis to prioritise her mental health and a maternity break in 2023.

This would mean an awful lot to her if she can achieve that here, in a quarter of the draw which has opened up following the spate of seeded players making early exits.

  10. 'Pavlyuchenkova's quality is improving'published at 12:40 British Summer Time 4 July

Osaka is getting to drop shots, but not always knowing what to do with them. Pavlyuchenkova does well to get the ball close to the net. Her quality and positioning is where she really rose in the second set.

    Stunning stuff from Dalma Galfi.

She shows great athleticism to get to a drop shot, and hits a rather bizarre sliced return that just creeps in for 40-15.

The Hungarian lets out a roar as she holds.

    .

Just popped over to court 12 to check on the progress of Solana Sierra.

The 21-year-old from Argentina knocked Katie Boulter out in round two, but has had an interesting Wimbledon story so far.

She was originally knocked out in qualifying but a withdrawal meant she was called back as a lucky loser and had just 15 minutes to prepare for playing in the first round.

So from thinking she was going home she’s banked more than £150,000, becoming the first woman from Argentina to reach the third round since 2009.

She won the first set here but currently has a medical time out after hurting her finger on her racquet, but seems fine to continue.

  17. Game and second set - Pavlyuchenkovapublished at 12:31 British Summer Time 4 July

    *Pavlyuchenkova 3-6 6-4 0-0 Osaka

Further signs that Naomi Osaka is enduring a mixed day on serve. Her ball toss has been a bit wayward, leaving her stretching at times. The Japanese player hits an ace to lead 30-15 but then a slower second serve is attacked and won by Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova for 30-30.

Pavlyuchenkova goes on to get break point and snatches the set with a ripping winner.

This was the most pressurised serving game for Pavlyuchenkova. She had no choice but to bring out her best. She brought three excellent serves.
