Nicolas Jarry, speaking after his victory on court two: "It's been a year of battles for me. This is amazing."

On his difficulties this year: "I had an issue last year with a nerve in my inner ear, which affected my balance. I have been trying to come back and recover and it has been really tough for me. Wimbledon is my favourite tournament by far.

"It is a grind physically. I am trying to see what I need to focus on. You have to figure out different ways to motivate yourself."

On the importance of his family: "My family has been the key pillar of this last year. Sometimes you get lonely so to have them is amazing."

    Nicolas Jarry

Huge affection for both winner and loser on court two.

Joao Fonseca pauses for a moment to thank the crowd properly for their support. At just 18, there’s so much more to come from him.

An emotional Nicolas Jarry brings his son on to the court and then explains in his post-match interview that he has had a tough past 12 months physically and mentally, while also speaking about the loneliness of being away from his family on the Tour for so long.

Chile’s qualifier is through to the fourth round for the very first time, and he has had to work very hard to make it happen.

He had the majority of the crowd against him tonight, and he will again when he meets Cameron Norrie next.

  4. 'Alcaraz has that tennis IQ to mix things up'published at 19:08 British Summer Time 4 July

    *Alcaraz 6-1 3-6 6-3 2-2 Struff

    Tim Henman
Former British number one on BBC Two

In the second set, Carlos Alcaraz was going into the backhand body all the time on serve. He was hitting nothing into the forehand side.

In the third set, he started to use the forehand side. That gave him a nice bit of variation.

For someone so young, he has that tactical awareness. You do feel that he has that tennis IQ to mix things up when he needs to.

Joao Fonseca nets and Nicolas Jarry has two match points....

And Fonseca can't get his backhand over the net - Jarry is through to round four for the first time!

There, the Chilean qualifier will play Great Britain's Cameron Norrie.

As Jarry emotionally hugs members of his family and carries his young son on to court, Joao Fonseca waves farewell to court two. We'll be seeing plenty of him over the next few years, I'm sure.

What a treat they've both given us.

Nicolas Jarry puts Joao Fonseca under pressure with the first point after the changeover - the teenager nets.

Back on serve in the breaker.

    A second-serve ace puts Jarry 5-4 up.

    Tense.

Not many things could add to the atmosphere here - it’s already livelier than any match I’ve attended so far this week - but the tension of a fourth-set tie-break certainly will!

While the points are watched with captivated silence, the Friday night atmosphere bursts back into life after each.

    Huge moments for both players.

    Alcaraz 6-1 3-6 6-3 Struff

    Mark Woodforde

It has been a fairly quick third set. There might be a few energy reserves in the German as there hasn't been many long rallies.

  12. Struff holdspublished at 18:54 British Summer Time 4 July

    *Alcaraz 6-1 3-6 6-3 0-1 Struff

Jan-Lennard Struff holds to 15 in the opening service game of the fourth set.

He didn't do much wrong in the third, but Carlos Alcaraz didn't give him a sniff of a chance for a break.

He needs the Spaniard to relent to get back in this.

  18. 'Struff is proving an unpredictable beast'published at 18:43 British Summer Time 4 July

    Alcaraz 6-1 3-6 5-2 Struff*

    Gary Rose
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

The Jan-Lennard Struff serve is proving an unpredictable beast. Sometimes his nails it, sometimes he gets it way, way wrong. But against Carlos Alcaraz unpredictability is perhaps his best shot, although this set is going away from him now.

There's barely any time for the Centre Court crowd to breathe as well with lots of very quick points. We're not too far off a fourth set with almost 90 minutes on the clock.

    Jarry 6-3 6-4 3-6 5-4 Fonseca*

Joao Fonseca is getting some very strong massage to his right hip and hamstring area. Just watching it is making me feel sore.

He's now back on his feet and serving to stay in the match.
