Emma Raducanu is being completely outplayed at the moment.

She is being rushed in every department. That was another rushed backhand where she was late on the ball, couldn't control it and just couldn't keep up with the pace.

No let up. Iga Swiatek is flying into these Emma Raducanu serves and it gives the Briton little time to sort her feet out and get a decent return away.

Iga Swiatek didn't give Emma Raducanu a chance to get into that game.

The Pole squats down low to absorb the pressure from a Raducanu forehand and she expertly lifts it over with a sublime drop shot.

Raducanu goes long with the next point and it's an easy-peasy love hold for the defending champion.

I’m still hopeful of Emma’s chances, just needs to hold on to her serve and stay in touch.

Superb from Emma Raducanu. She gets herself to deuce before pouncing on the ball and slinging a winner down the line.

Iga Swiatek swipes the ball wide on the next point to hand Raducanu the hold.

She's still alive in this set.

Very impressive from Iga Swiatek to get through that. It will give her that little bit of freedom again to play with the intensity she has been playing with. It will also give her more confidence.

From Emma Raducanu's perspective, she will be feeling a little bit downbeat about that last game.

You have to admire the way Iga brings the ruthlessness and ups the ante.

She doesn't let up, does she? She just keeps on going, corner to corner to corner.

In the end, Raducanu just stopped running because she couldn't keep up with it. She's finding the tempo of the match hard at the moment. She doesn't seem able to keep up the level of intensity that's coming at her.

Emma just allowing Swiatek to dictate by playing back foot tennis. She needs to get on the front foot and get aggressive - get inside the baseline and put Swiatek under pressure.

  17. Your questions answered - What do 'quarante-A' and 'egalite' mean?published at 16:28 British Summer Time 28 May

    Ask Me Anything

BBC Sport's Ask Me Anything team have been answering tennis-related questions.

Here's one on the terms used at the French Open.

Jill asked: Hi, at the French Open why does the umpire call ‘quarante A’ for the first deuce in a game and subsequent ones ‘egalite’?

'Quarante' means 40 in French, the ‘A’ stands for all - the phrase means 'forty all' for the first deuce.

The subsequent ones are called 'egalite', which means equality in French.
