Next up on Court One is Jannik Sinner against Ben Shelton.

Top seed Sinner will count himself somewhat fortunate to be playing this match today.

The world number one said he could not accept his progress to the Wimbledon quarter-finals "as a win" after Grigor Dimitrov tearfully exited the competition when he was forced to retire injured in their fourth round tie on Monday.

The Bulgarian had been leading 6-3 7-5 2-2 at the time against Sinner, who had also required treatment on an elbow issue from a fall during the same match.

There were doubts about the Italian's fitness for this quarter-final with Ben Shelton when he confirmed he would have a scan on his elbow on Tuesday and later cancelled his practice session.

If Sinner is not in peak physical condition, 10th seed Shelton could take advantage with his big serves and powerful groundstrokes to reach his second Grand Slam semi-final of the year - and a first at SW19.

    Swiatek 6-2 7-5 Samsonova

Eighth seed Iga Swiatek, speaking on court after beating Liudmila Samsonova to reach her first Wimbledon semi-final: "Honestly, it feels great. I have goosebumps after this win. I am super happy and super proud of myself and I will keep going.

"I really enjoy playing [on grass] this year and hopefully it is going to last as long as possible. I worked hard to progress here on this surface. It is a pleasure to play in front of you guys so thank you for the support."

On how she gets ready for tomorrow's semi-final: "It's a different rhythm to what we usually have on Grand Slams. I have only played twice like that. I will recover today, try not to celebrate too much but already focus on the next one, prepare in the evening and I will be ready tomorrow."

The atmosphere has been subdued for large parts of this very even quarter-final, but it just edges up a notch with the hint of another break point being offered up when Mirra Andreeva leads 0-30.

But Belinda Bencic comes back strong with an overhead smash getting her to 30-30 before going on to get the hold.

    Fantastic recovery.
