1. Andreescu saves two break pointspublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 5 July

    *Paolini 2-2 Andreescu

Jasmine Paolini looks to be on a roll, volleying to bring up another break point. Bianca Andreescu has to dig deep and resoundingly does, responding with two aces to scrape things back to deuce.

Another strong serve and then a Paolini error sees the Canadian to a hold, her first of the day.

Strong response from the former US Open winner.

I was in the very same seat yesterday and got sunburn, luckily won’t be having to deal with that now.

This is the second time in just over a month that Bianca Andreescu and Jasmine Paolini have met in the third round of a Grand Slam.

At the French Open, Italian Paolini won 6-1 3-6 6-0 on her way to the final.

Andreescu only returned from nine months out with a back problem at Roland Garros. Since winning the US Open as a 19-year-old in 2019, she has been plagued by injuries.

It would be a feel-good story to see her get into the second week here - and she's made the ideal start.

"I'm coming for him," those were the words of defending champion Carlos Alcaraz when he found out his third-round opponent was Frances Tiafoe.

The pair have a 1-1 record against each other, but Alcaraz was the victor last time out - winning an epic five-setter in the semi-finals of the 2022 US Open.

"We get on well, we have a lot of respect for each other," Tiafoe said.

"We had a tremendous battle in 2022. We're both super talented players, we're both hitting crazy shots, we both move really well.

"We're going to test each other and be ready to go to war."
