  1. 'Draper could win a Grand Slam in the future'published at 17:41 British Summer Time 2 July

    Draper v Ymer

    John Lloyd
Former GB Davis Cup captain on BBC TV

It's great for British tennis to have so many players playing well and getting to the draw.

Jack Draper, I think, is a tremendous prospect. I would be shocked if he's not in the top 10 before long. I think he has got a real shot to win a Grand Slam in the future.

I think it will be a bit nervous for both players being on Centre Court but I think Jack will embrace being out there and he is the [British] number one now and he believes he deserves to be and I don't think it will phase him at all.

Jack Draper has long been seen as the heir to his idol Andy Murray in British men's tennis.

Now the nation's new leading man is achieving results he has long been seen capable of.

The 22-year-old's ascension to British number one came on the back of his first ATP title in Stuttgart, followed by an eye-catching victory over defending champion Carlos Alcaraz at Queen's.

"Andy has been a huge inspiration to me. It started off with me watching him on TV, and on the bigger stages here," said Draper, who is seeded 28th.

"If I can have an amazing career like Andy I will be extremely proud of that."

The stage is set for the new British men’s number one.

After Novak Djokovic departs, there is just enough time for the Centre Court crowd to have a chinwag, head to the loo, top up their Pimms and head down a few rows to have a selfie closer to the hallowed turf.

If you’re really quick you might get chance to do a couple of those things.

As you can see, the roof remains shut even though things have brightened up a tad outside.

Heartbreak for Paul Jubb as his Wimbledon journey comes to an end at the first hurdle.

An incredible match on court 14 that lasted exactly four hours.

The crowd loved every second and Jubb has certainly won himself many more fans.

When leaving the court, he was hounded for autographs - maybe a sign of things to come for the Brit.

  13. Game and first set - Boulterpublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 2 July

    Boulter 7-6 (8-6) Maria*

Oh, Tatjana Maria hits long and Boulter has another set point but this time, crucially, she is on swerve!

Maria opts for a defensive approach a the baseline but, just as Boulter looks to be aggressive by stepping up to the net, the German is unable to return.

    What a turnaround.

Boulter lost each of the opening three games of that set but showed incredible character to fight back and then win a tie-break.

Second seed Novak Djokovic speaking after beating Vit Kopriva: "Obviously coming into Wimbledon for me this year was very different because of the knee. I'm just really glad with how I played and how I felt on the court. I didn't know how everything was going to unfold on the court. I'm extremely glad with the way I felt and the way I played today. Thank you all for coming out and supporting."

On how he found playing after recent knee surgery: "I tried to really focus on the game and not think about the knee too much. Everything that I could do, I have done over the last three weeks along with my team to be able to play here for you today. I think if it was for any other tournament I probably would not have risked it, would not have rushed as much but I just love Wimbledon, love coming back here.

"I want to thank my surgeon again for doing a great job. Things would be a bit complicated [without successful surgery] to be able to play on the highest level and avoid major injuries has been good. I've been fortunate to not be away from the tennis for so long."

On players suffering tough injuries: "It's tough, you feel helpless that something is not allowing you to do what you love the most. Andy Murray withdrawing is a great blow to the tournament, it's unfortunate. Great respect to him for what he has done in this tournament and this sport. I just hope he will be able to finish his career on his terms. I send him my best and to anybody out there really struggling with injuries, I think it is worth acknowledging all these athletes who are struggling."

Game, set and match - Seyboth Wildpublished at 17:28 British Summer Time 2 July

    Jubb 6-1 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 4-6 5-7 Seyboth Wild

Well the sun is shining on Thiago Seyboth Wild and it's game, set and match.

Seyboth Wild has been simply unstoppable in this final set, regularly overpowering Jubb.

The Brit gave it everything he had but he's just been out muscled after leading two sets to love.

Ultimately, he couldn't respond to the weight of the Seyboth Wild serve.

The Brazilian could play 15th seed Holger Rune next. He's currently on court against Japan's Soonwoo Kwon.
