    Norrie v Diaz Acosta

It has been a tough 2024 for Cameron Norrie. He has fallen out of the world's top 20 and been displaced as the top British man by 22-year-old Jack Draper.

Nevertheless, Norrie is another unseeded player to be feared, with this tournament coming only two years after he reached the Wimbledon semi-finals - his best performance at a Grand Slam.

Can 28-year-old Norrie give the British fans something to cheer about?

The powerful left-hander has been as high as eight in the world and, if he can regain his top form, will be one to watch.

This is exactly what Jack Draper, and the home fans, needed.

Elias Ymer finally started missing beats as he handed over the break, before Draper grabbed the spade to dig himself out of a hole.

The mood has brightened on Centre Court. Not time to get the party revved up again just yet, mind.

That almost came back to leave me red faced immediately as Jack Draper trailed 40-0 on serve and had to defend three break points... he pulled it off, though.

Draper digs in to get back to deuce before serving out the game to remain in control of the second set.

Two huge games in succession there for Draper.

Well, it's either good news or bad news for British tennis fans because Katie Boulter will face fellow Brit Harriet Dart in the second round.

It means there will be at least one British player in the third round, that's the positive spin on it...

I don't want to speak prematurely but there's a feeling that this match may have just started to swing in Jack Draper's favour.

Draper breaks to love to move into a 3-1 lead.

Can he kick on from here?

  6. game, set and match

Game, set and match - Boulterpublished at 18:31 British Summer Time 2 July

    Boulter 7-6 (8-6) 7-5 Maria

Katie Boulter has done it! A backhand down the line to win it!

It was a real battle with a mixture of good and not-so-good from the British number one - but she got there in the end.

Tatjana Maria was a semi-finalist at Wimbledon two years ago so it was never going to be straightforward.

It wasn't but Boulter did what she had to do and advances to round two.

The French Open champion Iga Swiatek is through.

It was pretty comfortable in the end in just 79 minutes.

The 2020 Australian Open winner didn't really look like getting a set but the Court One crowd seem to have enjoyed it.

  8. Match point for Boulterpublished at 18:31 British Summer Time 2 July

    *Boulter 7-6 (8-6) 6-5 Maria

Katie Boulter sends a big forehand just wide and it's back to 30-30 on the Tatjana Maria serve.

But Maria then goes long herself. Match point Boulter...

It might not be time to put that bunting away just yet JJ.

Jack Draper is starting to settle in and find his rhythm. There's still a plenty of room for improvement but it's trending in the right direction as he holds serve for the second time in the second set and to love in the most recent.

    *Boulter 7-6 (8-6) 6-5 Maria

Perfect start to the game for Katie Boulter as her drop shot is too cute for Tatjana Maria to reach.

    Now she drilled a cross-court forehand for a winner. It's 0-30...

Elias Ymer is hitting a very clean ball at the moment, he's hitting a lot of lines.

If you're Jack Draper, you've got to tell yourself that he can't keep it up while you subtly shift your plan.

Another Katie Bulter volley goes into the net and it's back to deuce.

The crowd get behind the Brit and she responds to give herself another shot at a 6-5 lead in this second set...

    She's got it!

A forehand hammered down the line and Tatjana Maria will have to serve to stay in the match again.

Hmmm. Seems like Elias Ymer has come to spoil the British coronation.

This is supposed to the day where Draper is anointed as the nation's new King of Wimbledon.

Sir Muzz of Dunblane is ready for retirement. The locals need another hero to wave their Union Jacks at and shout 'Come on!' in their droves.

    Bring down the bunting.

    Boulter 7-6 (8-6) 5-5 Maria*

Real frustration for Katie Boulter as the point after thumping a passing shot beyond a stranded Tatjana Maria, she sends a volley into the net.

It's 30-30 on the Boulter serve.

If I were Jack Draper, I would use more angles, maybe take a little bit off the first serve.

It's hard to do when you're not playing well and you're wound up.

He needs the crowd trying to rally behind him.

Is this the chance for Katie Boulter?

She's got it to 30-30 on the Tatjana Maria serve... Nope, Maria holds her nerve and pushes through to get the hold.

We're edging ever closer to another tie-break...

Celebratory cheers clatter into Centre Court and cut apart the calm.

The noise is from court eight, just over the other side of the Royal Box, where Jacob Fearnley has earned the biggest win of his career in terms of status and cash.

Come Thursday, that support for Fearnley has a strong chance of coming from inside the most iconic court in tennis.
