Still no sign of that back issue hampering Emma Raducanu, who has her energy back as she presses on towards round two.

Huge cheers echo around court eight as the Briton bullies Wang Xinyu around the court for 40-15, before a stunning forehand finishes the game. Victory is within reach.

I think Emma Raducanu has really got hold of Wang Xinyu's service games now.

You can tell that there are jitters every time Wang steps up to serve, so she is just pushing those serves. Those last two deliveries didn't have any pace or any aggression on them.

She is basically just trying to not have to hit a second serve - and she has just paid the price for it.

  4. Raducanu 'can function' without coach presentpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 26 May

Emma Raducanu's coaching situation has always provided plenty of intrigue and comment.

As she told us at last year's US Open, Raducanu is not one to follow normal convention if it doesn't feel right for her.

Right now she has settled on an informal partnership with Mark Petchey - a former British number one who worked with Andy Murray in his salad days as a professional player.

More recently, Petchey has morphed into an established television commentator. He is reluctant to give up that role, meaning he could miss some of Raducanu's matches at Roland Garros if his commitments clash.

"It is one of those where I can't do anything about it and I feel supported enough here," Raducanu told BBC Sport.

"I've got Tom [Welsh] here and Jane [O'Donoghue] who I can rely on. Of course I would love [Mark] to be at my match but I will be able to function if he's not."

  5. Raducanu breakspublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 26 May

    *Raducanu 7-5 4-6 4-1 Wang

Wang Xinyu nets and Emma Raducanu will have a first break point in this game to move a step closer to victory...

The double break is restored! Raducanu is two games away from a second-round meeting with four-time champion Iga Swiatek.

Game, set and - Swiatekpublished at 12:38 British Summer Time 26 May

    Sramkova 3-6 3-6 Swiatek

    Job done for Iga Swiatek.

It wasn't the easiest of victories for the four-time French Open winner, but she's got it over the line after an hour and 24 minutes.

That's 22 wins in a row for Swiatek at Roland Garros.

Emma Raducanu could await the fifth seed in the next round if the Briton maintains her lead against Wang Xinyu in this third set.

Xang Xinyu is firing again and moves out to 40-0 before Emma Raducanu takes a huge swing and buries a return.

The gap closes further to 40-30 as Raducanu dials up the pressure, and Wang can't handle it. Deuce.

    Sramkova 3-6 3-5 Swiatek*

After saving three break points, Rebecca Sramkova eventually surrenders her serve to give Iga Swiatek the break.

The three-time defending champion will now serve for the match and a place in the second round.

  9. Wang gets one break backpublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 26 May

    Raducanu 7-5 4-6 3-1 Wang*

Well recovered. Raducanu edges a rally and then a miss from Wang Xinyu brings us to deuce.

There will be a third break point for Raducanu to face here though... and this time Wang is gifted it as Raducanu double-faults.

That's one of two undone, but Raducanu just about remains in charge of the final set.

  10. 'Wang tightens under pressure'published at 12:31 British Summer Time 26 May

    *Raducanu 7-5 4-6 3-0 Wang

When Wang Xinyu's back is up against the wall, she starts to play with a little bit more freedom and starts to look a little bit more comfortable.

But when those really crucial points come, and there is more pressure on things, that is when she starts to tighten up.

At the moment, at 3-0 down, she is swinging again.

  11. Break points Wangpublished at 12:30 British Summer Time 26 May

    *Raducanu 7-5 4-6 3-0 Wang

The job is far from done, of course.

Wang Xinyu makes a forehand as she opens up a 0-30 lead, before Emma Raducanu replies with a backhand winner.

The pressure continues to build as Raducanu slaps a volley into the net. Two break points.

  12. Raducanu breaks for second time in deciderpublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 26 May

    *Raducanu 7-5 4-6 3-0 Wang

    There it is!

'Come on!' yells Emma Raducanu, as Wang Xinyu misses and hands total control to the Briton.

Somehow Raducanu has mustered the energy to put herself in a wonderful position here.

  13. Break points Raducanupublished at 12:24 British Summer Time 26 May

    Raducanu 7-5 4-6 2-0 Wang*

Raducanu shakes her fist in celebration once more as she pounces on a second serve and sets up two break points.

A huge point or two coming up here. This could be as good as the match for Raducanu.

Another break here and surely that will be enough for Emma Raducanu.

A brilliant backhand gives the Brit the first point, before a double fault by her opponent really puts the pressure on Wang Xinyu.

    *Sramkova 3-6 3-4 Swiatek

Iga Swiatek is back on track against Rebecca Sramkova.

The fifth seed has broken back and now she's pulled 4-3 ahead thanks to a straightforward hold.

A big couple of games ahead for Sramkova who has never made it past the first round at Roland Garros.

  16. 'Raducanu is marching around the court now'published at 12:22 British Summer Time 26 May

    Raducanu 7-5 4-6 2-0 Wang*

    Annabel Croft

That is such a positive way to start the final set!

Emma Raducanu is sending messages down the other end of the court about how she has energy and she is up for this. She is laying the marker down for this final set.

Even the way she's walking around the court is a marked difference to earlier on in this match. She is marching around the court now, isn't she?

If she had lost that last set 6-1, maybe it would be a different situation out there right now.

  17. Raducanu holds servepublished at 12:22 British Summer Time 26 May

    Raducanu 7-5 4-6 2-0 Wang*

Wang Xinyu misses on a crucial fifth point as Emma Raducanu edges to safety, before the Briton makes a stunning drop shot from the baseline to consolidate her advantage in this decider.

Raducanu is looking more like herself again, that's for sure.

Can that be the springboard for Emma Raducanu to go on and win the match?

Something tells me this likely won't quite be quite so simple, given what we have seen so far.

Into a third hour we go, the court eight crowd still captivated by this topsy-turvy tie.

  19. Alcaraz takes first setpublished at 12:16 British Summer Time 26 May

    Alcaraz 6-3 Zeppieri

One set down, two more to go for Carlos Alcaraz.

The defending champion took a slight scenic path but he's clinched the opener over Italian qualifier Giulio Zeppieri, helped by 16 winners from the Spaniard.

  20. Raducanu breaks at start of third setpublished at 12:16 British Summer Time 26 May

    *Raducanu 7-5 4-6 1-0 Wang

Which way this match will swing next is anyone's guess.

Emma Raducanu appears to have rediscovered a level of consistency after her dip in energy levels midway through set two, but Wang Xinyu will certainly be energised by taking this to a decider.

We may have our answer already. Wang double-faults to give Raducanu three break points, and the Briton makes no mistake on the first.

    What a start for Raducanu!
