  1. Basavareddy holdspublished at 10:50 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January

    *Djokovic 4-6 6-3 6-4 2-1 Basavareddy

A sense of inevitability about this match now but Nishesh Basavareddy plays his part and holds serve to get his first game on the board in set four.

  2. Djokovic holds to consolidate breakpublished at 10:46 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January

    Djokovic 4-6 6-3 6-4 2-0 Basavareddy*

Nishesh Basavareddy will sleep tonight. Inevitably when you're playing one of the best to ever do it, the fatigue is setting in.

Djokovic takes the hold to consolidate that break.

  3. Djokovic breaks in opening game of set fourpublished at 10:43 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January

    *Djokovic 4-6 6-3 6-4 1-0 Basavareddy

A stern glare at the line from Novak Djokovic as his forehand is called out, denying him three break points.

Nishesh Basavareddy fires long on the next point, though, and Djokovic will have two opportunities to break.

No mistake this time and Djokovic is really asserting his dominance now.

  4. 'Kyrgios knew he was playing against the better man'published at 10:40 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January

    Fearnley 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 7-6 (7-2) Kyrgios

    Ken Skupski
British former player on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

A wonderful performance from Jacob Fearnley to not drop a set.

Obviously Kyrgios came into the match with a little bit of an issue with his abs, but Fearnley really took care of business and controlled his side of the court so well.

He just went about his business so calmly. His game is really suited to these courts with the quick conditions.

I think Kyrgios knew that he was playing against the better man today.

    Djokovic 4-6 6-3 6-4 0-0 Basavareddy*

Nishesh Basavareddy is back out after spending a bit of time off court between sets.

He didn't look like that injury was bothering him too much in set three but perhaps he just needed a word with himself in the locker room.

Jacob Fearnley!! The meteoric rise of the 23-year-old from Edinburgh continues.

This time last year he was still studying at Texas Christian University in the United States.

Now he is a top-100 player and pooping the Kyrgios party in Melbourne.

    Incredible.

    All over!

A huge win for Britain's Jacob Fearnley, which he seals in straight sets.

This was perhaps not the Nick Kyrgios of old, but take nothing away from Fearnley's performance against the home favourite.

"We're not done yet, Nick," crows one elderly Aussie fella.

    I think we are...

  9. 'The nail in the coffin'published at 10:37 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January

    *Fearnley 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 6-6 (6-1) Kyrgios

    Ken Skupski
British former player on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

That could be the nail in the coffin.

I think that rally was taking it out of both of them. Fearnley won the point in the end, so I think Kyrgios is going to feel awful after that point - and his abs are going to feel even worse.

  10. Tie-breakpublished at 10:36 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January

    *Fearnley 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 6-6 (6-1) Kyrgios

Jacob Fearnley will have five match points!

  11. Tie-breakpublished at 10:34 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January

    *Fearnley 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 6-6 (4-1) Kyrgios

A double fault from Nick Kyrgios gifts Jacob Fearnley a three-point lead in the tie-break as he takes over serving duties.

The Briton can see the finish line now.

  12. Game and third set - Djokovicpublished at 10:33 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January

    Djokovic 4-6 6-3 6-4 Basavareddy

Another big roar from Novak Djokovic as he takes set three and there's an awful lot of work for Nishesh Basavareddy to do now.

Andy Murry applauds his player. I wonder if it's more nervy being a player or a coach?

  13. 'Djokovic isn't out of danger'published at 10:33 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January

    *Djokovic 4-6 6-3 5-4 Basavareddy

    Mark Woodforde
17-time Grand Slam doubles champion on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra and BBC Sounds

Djokovic isn't out of danger in this game.

He is really having to show his patience and wait for that opening.

    *Djokovic 4-6 6-3 5-4 Basavareddy

Ah, that's unlucky Nishesh Basavareddy. The American looks like he's managed to find a bit of a second wind and gets himself to 30-30 but his forehand to earn a break point clips the net and falls the wrong side.

    Set point Novak Djokovic.

  15. Tie-breakpublished at 10:32 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January

    Fearnley 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 6-6 (2-1) Kyrgios*

Jacob Fearnley immediately puts Nick Kyrgios on the back foot in the tie-break with a fine backhand winner, but Kyrgios does well to take one point back on the Briton's serve at the net.

  16. 'If Fearnley can keep plugging away, it will come'published at 10:31 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January

    Fearnley 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 6-6 (0-0) Kyrgios*

    Ken Skupski
British former player on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

Kyrgios plays some incredible tennis and he does come up with some big shots in some big moments, but he is living on the edge all the time.

I just feel like, if Fearnley can keep plugging away, it will come and he will get that opportunity again to potentially take this third set.

  17. Fearnley holds servepublished at 10:30 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January

    Fearnley 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 6-6 (0-0) Kyrgios*

    We're going to a tie-break!

Jacob Fearnley settles a comfortable hold, despite another double fault, to set up his chance at securing victory.

  18. Kyrgios saves break point to holdpublished at 10:27 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January

  19. Basavareddy holds to lovepublished at 10:26 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January

    *Djokovic 4-6 6-3 5-4 Basavareddy

It's not quite four aces, but it's just about as efficient as it can get from Nishesh Basavareddy and he throws it to Novak Djokovic to serve out for the third set and a 2-1 lead in this match.

  20. 'Fearnley should try to expose the backhand more'published at 10:26 Greenwich Mean Time 13 January

    Fearnley 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 5-5 Kyrgios*

    Ken Skupski
British former player on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

That was a big shot - a big forehand down the line from Nick.

I think Fearnley should really try to expose the backhand side more because Kyrgios uses his forehand so well to get himself out of trouble.
