  1. Break point Fearnleypublished at 10:26 Greenwich Mean Time

    Fearnley 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 5-5 Kyrgios*

The question is just how much more does Nick Kyrgios have left in the tank?

Having looked down and out when 3-1 down in this set, he's given a lot to get back to this position.

But now a set point has come and gone, has he got it in him to go again?

We might have our answer. Jacob Fearnley has a break point...

  2. Djokovic holds with four acespublished at 10:25 Greenwich Mean Time

    Djokovic 4-6 6-3 5-3 Basavareddy*

Well, how do you stop someone from managing to take points off your serve.

Hit an ace. Or, if you're Novak Djokovic, hit four aces.

The Serb hits one, two, three then four ridiculous serves in a row to take the hold to love. Ridiculous.

  3. Fearnley saves set point to holdpublished at 10:24 Greenwich Mean Time

    Fearnley 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 5-5 Kyrgios*

    Huge relief for Jacob Fearnley.

After a tense seven-minute game the Briton escapes with the hold to level at 5-5.

  4. Basavareddy holdspublished at 10:23 Greenwich Mean Time

    *Djokovic 4-6 6-3 4-3 Basavareddy

Nishesh Basavareddy holds his serve, despite Novak Djokovic taking a couple of points off it on the way.

His level has, understandably, dropped as he has grown tired against the 24-time Grand Slam champion but he's doing well to keep the pace here.

  5. Postpublished at 10:23 Greenwich Mean Time

    *Fearnley 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 4-5 Kyrgios

    Terrific response from Jacob Fearnley!

He follows up a forehand winner with an ace to move from set point down to game point.

  6. Set point Kyrgiospublished at 10:22 Greenwich Mean Time

    *Fearnley 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 4-5 Kyrgios

And now Nick Kyrgios will get a look at a set point.

Not a sentence I though I'd be writing half an hour ago.

  7. 'Fearnley needs to be a little bit more composed'published at 10:20 Greenwich Mean Time

    *Fearnley 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 4-5 Kyrgios

I think Fearnley just needs to be a little bit more composed here.

I think he is trying to get out of the points really quickly but Kyrgios is doing a fantastic job of putting him on the back foot straightaway.

Kyrgios really looks like he is having a tough time getting through this match.

  8. Postpublished at 10:20 Greenwich Mean Time

    *Fearnley 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 4-5 Kyrgios

Double faults are the last thing Jacob Fearnley needs right now with Nick Kyrgios growing in belief.

His seventh of the match helps Kyrgios to 15-30 but he's grateful to see the Australian miss the opportunity to apply further pressure.

The danger has not passed just yet, however. A misplaced backhand brings Kyrgios to deuce - and within a couple of points of pulling a set back.

  9. Djokovic holdspublished at 10:19 Greenwich Mean Time

    Djokovic 4-6 6-3 4-2 Basavareddy*

Another hold in the bag for Novak Djokovic, still with the break in tow.

Can 19-year-old Nishesh Basavareddy dig deep here to make things difficult for the Serb?

  10. 'Kyrgios has got a little spring in his step'published at 10:16 Greenwich Mean Time

    *Fearnley 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 4-5 Kyrgios

    Ken Skupski
British former player on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

Kyrgios has got a little spring in his step, you can tell that he is starting to feel it. These are the types of feelings that he is probably going to get back after being out for so long.

It's just whether he can keep his nerve in this business-end of the set. This is where the big moments are, that you miss when you haven't played for so long.

It's whether he can focus in on his game and impose himself, which he used to do so well when he was fully fit.

  11. Kyrgios saves break point to holdpublished at 10:16 Greenwich Mean Time

    *Fearnley 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 4-5 Kyrgios

A grimace and a look to the sky from Nick Kyrgios suggest that has taken a lot out of him - but the crowd thoroughly appreciate his efforts here.

With some big serving he closes out the hold to edge back in front.

  12. Kyrgios saves break pointpublished at 10:14 Greenwich Mean Time

    Fearnley 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 4-4 Kyrgios*

Can Jacob Fearnley crash the party and get the break which would allow him the chance to serve this out before Nick Kyrgios gains any more momentum?

He's giving it his best! What a point that is, the Briton at full stretch to guide a forehand back down the line for break point.

Kyrgios dismisses that with an ace.

  13. Basavareddy holdspublished at 10:12 Greenwich Mean Time

    *Djokovic 4-6 6-3 3-2 Basavareddy

Novak Djokovic is now landing the shots that he kept missing in the opening two sets.

He nails a backhand winner down the line to take us to deuce on the Nishesh Basavareddy serve but then sends one long and the American holds to keep that scoreboard pressure up.

Djokovic still with the break advantage.

Alcaraz beats Shevchenko in straight setspublished at 10:12 Greenwich Mean Time

    Shevchenko 1-6 5-7 1-6 Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz has done it. The Spaniard has beaten Alexander Shevchenko in straight sets in his first match of 2025.

He did need five match points to close it out though, but a brilliant ace was enough to seal his second round spot in under two hours.

His quest for a career Grand Slam continues.

To be fair, it could be the last time the home fans ever see Kyrgios play at the AO.

So let's not begrudge them some fun. Kyrgios is starting to enjoy himself now, too.

The mood turns celebratory as he produces an underarm serve followed by a 'tweener to back up the break with a hold to love.

Inflatable yellow Aussie kangaroos are bopping up and down with their owners. National flags are being flung. Even dance shapes are being thrown in seats.

The party has begun. But it still feels like it's a brief 4am second wind rather than the 11pm onslaught.

  16. Fearnley holds servepublished at 10:12 Greenwich Mean Time

    Fearnley 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 4-4 Kyrgios*

An impressive and important hold of serve from Jacob Fearnley, closing out with an ace just to steady himself after a first rocky period.

The Briton is only two games from victory, although you wouldn't necessarily know it inside John Cain Arena right now.

  17. Postpublished at 10:10 Greenwich Mean Time

    *Fearnley 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 3-4 Kyrgios

Jacob Fearnley needs to make sure he doesn't get caught up in what's going on around him while this Nick Kyrgios resurgence plays out.

The Australian wins the opening point on Fearnley's serve to get the crowd going once again.

  18. Djokovic holdspublished at 10:09 Greenwich Mean Time

He takes the hold to 15 and looks well on his way to taking this second set.

  19. Kyrgios holds servepublished at 10:08 Greenwich Mean Time

    *Fearnley 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 3-4 Kyrgios

    It's noisy now!

From 3-1 down to 4-3 up, has Kyrgios found a second wind?

  20. Kyrgios breaks back in third setpublished at 10:05 Greenwich Mean Time

    Who saw this coming?

The vocal Australian crowd hoped it would - but surely even they were starting to lose faith.
