I was a bit unsure about whether this would be a runaway set. Quite often when you win the tie-break so convincingly, you rattle through the second set.

Zarazua is not going to go anywhere and she is continuing to bring that same awkward game plan and style to this match where Raducanu still hasn't quite figured it out.

It just looks like the power has dropped off again from Raducanu so let's bring it back, if possible.

  2. Break points for Zarazuapublished at 17:49 1 July

    Zarazua 6-7 (0-7) 1-1 Raducanu*

    Hmmmm. Is something brewing?

Renata Zarazua takes a 30-0 lead against serve.

Emma Raducanu puts a stop to that sharply, though, as she rushes to the net to volley her way back into the game. 30-15.

Raducanu finds the net cord and it bounce back on to her side to hand Zarazua two break points.

Britain’s Liam Broady has made a habit of making the third round at Wimbledon over the past couple of years.

He has a real battle on his his hands over on court 12, but he is still in it.

The 30-year-old lost the opening set against Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp, but he fought back to win the second.

There’s a big groan from the crowd, though, as Van de Zandschulp goes a break up in the third and goes on to take the lead.

    Zarazua 6-7 (0-7) 1-1 Raducanu*

Renata Zarazua isn't ready to fold either, despite the way she collapsed in that tie-break, and she holds to 15.

The Mexican has displayed a great variety of shots throughout this match and continues to do so as she slots a forehand down the line to take the game.

  5. Raducanu holdspublished at 17:43 1 July

    *Zarazua 6-7 (0-7) Raducanu

A moment for Emma Raducanu and Renata Zarazua to reflect after an emphatic end to that first set.

I have to admit that took me by surprise as Raducanu rattled off point after point.

Zarazua has taken the opportunity to exit Centre Court but she's back and ready to go.

Just over five minutes have passed since that tie-break winning point and we are set to get back under way.

When it matters, Emma Raducanu comes up clutch.

A heck of a tie-break from the Brit, who channelled her energy brilliantly to blow Zarazua away.

The sky over Centre Court is gloomy. But the mood is much brighter now.

Raducanu chomps on a banana, Zarazua pops off court while the net is adjusted by the groundstaff.

This is where nerves can play a bit more of a part.

You just play your solid tennis and let the nerves dictate the fancy stuff.

    Laura Robson

As soon as Raducanu does add a bit more power behind her shot, there is a really good chance to finish off the point because you know what sort of shot you're going to get now from Zarazua.

There are not too many surprises at this point in the match so Raducanu just has to be a bit more conscious about what is coming on the other side of the net.

  13. Raducanu leads in tie-breakpublished at 17:30 1 July

    *Zarazua 6-6 (0-4) Raducanu

The atmosphere has just raised a notch or two on Centre Court as Emma Raducanu takes the first four points of the tie-break.

Where has this come from? The set has been so evenly balanced and all of a sudden Raducanu is asserting her dominance.

  14. 'Emma raised pace of her ball'published at 17:28 1 July

Emma really raised the pace in her ball. It’s something she can do that Renata cannot.

The more opportunities she can lean into that the more she can make her think.

I would like to see Emma doing a bit more of that.

  15. Raducanu holdspublished at 17:28 1 July

    *Zarazua 6-6 Raducanu

A tense rally concludes with the white chalk flying up off the grass following an exquisitely placed backhand from Emma Raducanu. 30-15.

Raducanu looks steely-eyed as she moves 40-15 clear but she invites Renata Zarazua back into the game by firing into the net with a forehand - 40-30.

Not to worry though, we're heading to a first set tie-break after Raducanu holds.

The gasp which greeted a Raducanu backhand at 15-15 told you how much power it had.

The puff of chalk which flew up after the next shot told you how much precision that one had.

It felt like an important point and laid the platform for Raducanu to ensure this crucial opening set goes to a tie-breaker.

  17. Top seed Sinner starts on Court Onepublished at 17:24 1 July

    Sinner v Hanfmann

World number one Jannik Sinner comes in as favourite to win the men's singles as he prepares to take on Germany's Yannick Hanfmann on Court One.

The 22-year-old Italian's best performance at Wimbledon came last year when he made it to the semi-finals but after winning at Halle, he'll be hoping to improve on that this time around.

Meanwhile, Hanfmann has dropped from 51 to 110 in the rankings after a difficult 2024 and lost to Sinner in their only previous meeting in the first round of the US Open last year.

    Zarazua 6-5 Raducanu*

    Johanna Konta

Zarazua is obviously not hitting big serves but she is placing it really well and Emma hasn’t really been able to put any pressure on that serve.

  19. Zarazua holdspublished at 17:22 1 July

    Zarazua 6-5 Raducanu*

Emma Raducanu thinks she is on track to breaking after taking a 30-0 lead when Renata Zarazua's shot is called out.

Zarazua challenges that call and Hawk-Eye falls in her favour - it was quite comfortably on the line and it's back to 15-0 with the point replayed.

That overturned call proves to be a turning point too, with Zarazua going on to win to 15.

Raducanu is serving to stay in the set.
