A misplaced lob from Aleksandar Vukic brings us to deuce before a beautiful backhand volley from Carlos Alcaraz sets up break point.

He initially can't convert but does a few points later as Vukic volleys into the net.

Sonay Kartal has done it! The British qualifier is through to round three!

What a match that was. The world number 298 was brilliant for the first set and a half, dropped off at the end of the second but then rallied superbly to come through in the decider!

After two hours and 15 minutes of enthralling tennis, Kartal has beaten world number 45 Clara Burel and can now look forward to a match against second seed Coco Gauff.

Sonay is looking cool on the outside but I am not sure how she's feeling on the inside.

    *Kartal 6-3 5-7 5-3 Burel

    One. Game. Away.

Sonay Kartal - after a bit more help from that trusty net chord - holds to 30 and Clara Burel will serve to stay in the match.

A few aces on the back of a double fault save Carlos Alcaraz.

I suspect this will be another tight set.

Oh no. It’s raining. The umpire hasn’t stopped play just yet. Sonay Kartal will be hoping to get this one done and dusted as soon as possible.

  10. Postpublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Alcaraz 7-5 0-1 Vukic

Aleksandar Vukic is now handing out the winners.

One goes crosscourt for 15-15 before one down the line sets up a game point which is successful.

  11. Break points for Kartal but Burel holdspublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Kartal 6-3 5-7 4-3 Burel

Goodness me, drama at the net with neither player able to put the other away before Clara Burel's volley finds the net.

Two break points for Sonay Kartal but Burel regroups and calmly dismisses them in turn.

The world number 45 serves it out and keeps it at just a one-break advantage for Kartal.

  12. 'Alcaraz is back in the driver's seat'published at 15:37 British Summer Time 3 July

    Alcaraz 7-6 (7-5) 0-0 Vukic*

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

As the top guys often do, they step it up when they really need to.

Carlos Alcaraz is back in the driver's seat.

It was a great set, we saw a bit of everything.

Battle from both players. It was quite entertaining.

Vukic did a lot of good things, I think his game translates to this surface. He hits his spots well.

He's got to be feeling he is right here with Alcaraz except for those last few moments.

  13. Kartal getting closerpublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 3 July

    Kartal 6-3 5-7 4-2 Burel*

    Charlotte Coates

What a turnaround in this match as Sonay Kartal moves to within two games of a third round match against Coco Gauff.

Court three is getting louder and louder in support of the Brit. Brilliant stuff.

  14. Kartal consolidates the breakpublished at 15:36 British Summer Time 3 July

    Kartal 6-3 5-7 4-2 Burel*

Sonay Kartal has wrestled back control of this match.

It's a very strong service game from the world number 298 and she is too more of those away from the third round.

  15. 'He thinks that's the set'published at 15:35 British Summer Time 3 July

    Muller 7-6 (7-3) 6-7 (4-7) Medvedev*

We've all had those moments where we're just not quite sure what's going on. The opening set was that for Daniil Medvedev.

Fortunately for the fifth seed he's back on track now having just taken the second.

  16. 'Kartal deserves a little luck'published at 15:35 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Kartal 6-3 5-7 3-2 Burel

    Anne Keothavong

Kartal has done really well to shake off the disappointment of the second set and we’re into a real dog-fight here.

She had time to go for this forehand and she deserves a little luck in this match.

  17. Game and first set - Alcarazpublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 3 July

    Alcaraz 7-6 (7-5) Vukic

Alcaraz wins first set on a tie-break

A solid serve from Carlos Alcaraz gives Aleksandar Vukic no opportunity to get into a rally and the tie-break is over.

That was nail-bitingly close. We could be here all afternoon!

A huge slice of luck but Sonay Kartal will take it.

Having raced in put away a shot at the net to bring up break point, the Brit's forehand on the next point clatters into the net chord... but loops up and bounces on Clara Burel's side of the court.

She apologises but I don't imagine she's that sorry...

  19. Game and second set - Medvedevpublished at 15:33 British Summer Time 3 July

    Muller 7-6 (7-3) 6-7 (4-7) Medvedev

Daniil Medvedev seals the second set with a brilliant forehand. We're all square on Centre Court and the fifth seed looks much more comfortable.

Will he go on to cruise through now?

  20. ‘Come on, Son’published at 15:32 British Summer Time 3 July

    Kartal 6-3 5-7 2-2 Burel*

    Charlotte Coates
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

“Come on, Son” are the cries from Sonay Kartal’s box.

After that, there was a slight chuckle around court three as one of the line judges “out” call sounded like a dog bark.
