  1. Medvedev breaks backpublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Muller 7-6 (7-3) 3-3 Medvedev

Remember I said Daniil Medvedev had moved further away from the baseline? Well it seems to be working for him as he breaks back then holds to get us back on serve.

He seems more with it and there's certainly less muttering going on.

    Van de Zandschulp 6-7 (9-11) 0-2 Humbert*

This was some reach from Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp over on court 12, although he is a set and a break down against France's 16th seed Ugo Humbert.

    *Alcaraz 2-2 Vukic

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

Aleksandar Vukic comes into this event with only three career wins.

That's not going to scare a whole lot of people.

But his game is pretty well suited to this surface.

  4. Postpublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Alcaraz 2-2 Vukic

Carlos Alcaraz's exuberance is just letting him down at the minute on Aleksandar Vukic's serve.

There's been a few long and a few wide and it means Vukic holds relatively comfortably.

  5. 'Change in Burel's mindset'published at 14:55 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Kartal 6-3 4-5 Burel

    Anne Keothavong
Former British number one on BBC TV

I can’t help but think a bit of nerves got in the way for Kartal. I’d like to see her being a little more aggressive, find the width and get Burel on the move.

Having looked down and out, there is a change in Burel’s mindset that she can do this.

  6. Burel holdspublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Kartal 6-3 4-5 Burel

More resilience shown by France's Clara Burel.

She comes back from 0-30 to hold. That's four games in a row for her.

Britain's Sonay Kartal, who was a point away from serving for the match not long ago, is now serving to stay in the set.

  7. 'Sonay's time away from courts was productive'published at 14:52 British Summer Time 3 July

    Kartal 6-3 4-4 Burel*

    Anne Keothavong
Former British number one on BBC TV

Sonay was given a lot of support from the LTA medical team (for an undisclosed health scare earlier in the year) who have done a great job supporting her.

Her time away from the match courts was productive and but she was still able to work on her game and when you have had time away, you are hungry.

  8. 'Vukic will be trying to get rid of some butterflies'published at 14:51 British Summer Time 3 July

    Alcaraz 2-1 Vukic*

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

Aleksandar Vukic will be a bit uptight, we all know that, so maybe not hitting the serve as hard as he could early on, try to get rid of some of those butterflies.

  9. Postpublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 3 July

    Alcaraz 2-1 Vukic*

Alcaraz's power is causing Vukic problems but he's still playing some nice stuff.

An impressive volley puts him 0-15 up on Alcaraz's serve once again.

  10. Medvedev holdspublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Muller 7-6 (7-3) 3-1 Medvedev

Daniil Medvedev finally gets himself on the board in this second set with a hold to 30.

The fifth seed appeared to be standing a bit closer to the baseline than usual in the opening set but it looks like he's resumed his usual stance of a couple of metres behind the paint. Let's see how that works out for him.

  11. Nervy second setpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 3 July

    Kartal 6-3 4-4 Burel*

    Charlotte Coates
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

I said not too long ago that Clara Burel was looking defeated but that is certainly not the case right now.

The Frenchwoman has just broken the serve of Sonay Kartal and it’s now the Brit who is needing all the encouragement she can get.

Momentum has swung back in Clara Burel's direction.

A fantastic drop-volley at 15-40 sees the Frenchwoman wipe out the double break.

Work to do for Kartal again...

    *Alcaraz 1-1 Vukic

Vukic's serving is proving powerful and it's an easy hold for him too. Alcaraz hasn't had many chances yet.

  15. Big hold for Burelpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 3 July

    *Kartal 6-3 4-3 Burel

Sonay Kartal goes up 0-40 on the Clara Burel serve but the Frenchwoman clings on and, eventually, holds.

There were a couple of near misses for Kartal, including lob that was a fraction long.

The world number 298 still managed to earn a fourth break point but Burel saved it again before grinding out a hold.

  16. Alcaraz holdspublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 3 July

    Alcaraz 1-0 Vukic*

A relatively easy hold for Carlos Alcaraz in this opening service game as an ace puts him on the scoreboard.

Aleksandar Vukic isn't here to make up the numbers though, he was 0-15 up with a smashing winner down the line.

Fans on Court One don't have much time to pop out for refreshments after that Coco Gauff win before match number two gets under way.

And this is one they won't want to miss.

Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz has just strolled out to a standing ovation, following behind his Australian opponent Aleksandar Vukic.

Did I say this was a practice match? There is definitely a real competitive edge lingering.

    Joe Salisbury, particularly, means business.

After the Murrays take control, Ram suggests their opponents are playing "good points" but that doesn't really placate Salisbury.

The Anglo-American pair, seeded third in the men's doubles, are fired up.

They fight back to take a healthy lead in a match tie-break, holding off a late surge from the Scots before clinching it 10-8.

Encouraging signs for Murray and Murray.

  20. Who is Aleksandar Vukic?published at 14:42 British Summer Time 3 July

    Alcaraz v Vukic

Australian world number 69 Aleksandar Vukic made his Grand Slam debut at Roland Garros in 2020 after coming through as a qualifier.

The 28-year-old has been as high as the top 50 in the rankings and loved watching Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic as a young player. Sydney was his home town growing up after his parents moved to Australia from what-was Yugoslavia in the early 1990s.

It took five sets and nearly four hours for him to make the second round as he trumped world number 45 Sebastian Ofner 6-7 (9-11), 6-4, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (10-8). He had to save a match point too.

With a big serve, he won't be an easy opponent for Alcaraz and the pair met in qualifying at the French Open four years ago, when Vukic beat a then-17-year-old Alcaraz.

However, Vukic has never got past the second round at Wimbledon, winning just one match in his debut Championships last year.
